Taysom Hill: Swiss Army Knife of the NFL - Harbaugh connection

Bleacher Report Warning (if necessary)

Read a very insightful article into the evolution of Taysom Hill - erstwhile former QB for the BYU Cougars.

Always was impressed with this guy in college, and this article makes me like him even more.

I also think at one time we were hoping he would transfer to UM.

I am adding this post to both share this with everyone, but also to highlight the impact Jim Harbaugh has on players...even those he doesn't ever coach.

After Hill broke his fibula in 2014, Jim Harbaugh called. Harbaugh had recruited him to Stanford and stayed in touch. Harbaugh told him about when he broke his arm as Michigan's quarterback in 1984 and had to sit out the rest of the season.

"You and I are so similar," Harbaugh told him, according to Hill. "What I found is I needed to find something else to compete at, because I couldn't do it on the football field. Go compete in life, go compete in the classroom."

Hill took his advice and committed himself to the finance curriculum at BYU. He subsequently became one of the top students in the rigorous program, What he accomplished gave him great satisfaction, even though he missed football.

This is why I love Jim Harbaugh as OUR COACH.

He cares not only about what a player can do for him on the field, but also what these young men can for themselves on the field of life.

Good Shit Jedd.

He doesn't do this because of what he could be in one of his tomorrows. He does this because of who he is today.

Hill resonates because he sacrifices. He sacrifices his body. He sacrifices his free time like few players. And he sacrifices personal ambition.

Taysom Hill is a player willing to do whatever it takes.  That is awesome.

Harbaugh's approach to things like this have to help recruiting. Yes, Michigan has the name, resources, academics, etc., but if you're a parent, how could you not want your son to be in a program playing for a guy like this?

One day, Jim will hopefully be able to compete against and beat Urban and OSU. 0-4 is not acceptable. At all.

Given the choice between a good guy who loses to Urban or a rape-enabling piece of shit like Mork, I'd probably choose to lose to Urban.

Michigan would have been a better team had Harbaugh not dismissed LTT, but he thought it was the right thing to do, so he did it. Wins and losses matter, but being unwilling to do anything to chase wins is a good thing.

JH is ultra-competitive.  He made tactical/planning mistakes in this game and deserves criticism for it.  It wasn't a lame duck plan, he did what he thought was best.  But I'm betting he knows this and is not happy about it.  He will evaluate what he did wrong and make adjustments.  This doesn't guarantee he'll win next year's game.  In 2017 he had a great offensive game plan and still lost.  But, he will keep grinding until he gets it right.
