Tate out for grades - yes, I know it's been posted..

Submitted by JTGoBlue on

..but the thread was blown up by a ridiculous 'I know you are, but what am I?' argument.  I thought some of us might want to actually comment on this development.  Here I go:

I think Tate should be suspended indefinitely.  This leaves me to truly wonder now if Tate does plan to transfer, blew off the class(es) he doesn't like, and gladly took the free trip to Florida.  And the consequences? It is more likely than not that DR will have to sit out a few plays during the bowl game, which means DG comes in and burns his redshirt.  That would be a significant blow to the future continuity of this program...

Thoughts, anyone?

We have other backup QBs.  I'm sure they are capable of handing the ball off or throwing screen passes.  DG should not play unless Denard is really incapacitated.

If Denard needs to leave for a play or two, not indefinite time, maybe Gallon can run some of the triple option he was running in High School and during bowl practice. It's one thing to let your team down as a whole, but to burn one year of a teammate's more than likely starting time at Michigan, that's rough...

I believe they have known about this for awhile and have been practicing with alternatives (i.e., Gallon) in case of a brief D-Rob outage, but if he goes down for a prolonged period, I think we'll see Gardner

Perhaps they knew something was a possibility (50/50 chance on Tate having an issue) if Gallon was taking reps.  The coaches are informed on players who have had or are having trouble.  The tutors and advisors are they're to monitor situations as best they can determine as well.  Of course only the player and the prof know for sure but there's communcation beforehand.

So really, nothing has changed wrt to Tate since the end of the 2009 season.

Being associated with that abomination of a website, losing his wings, being called "diseased" by a teammate, not showing up for offseason practices, having to do extra schoolwork in the summer to stay eligible at that point, throwing a hissy fit after the UConn game........

.......it's pretty clear at this point that Tate's "change of heart" in his interviews this year was nothing more than window-dressing and spin doctoring probably ordered by PAPA FORCE, especially his interview earlier this week where he extolled the ease in passing classes at Michigan.

Character assassination on a 19 year old. He's one of our players at our favorite program. I've made no comment on the terrible things said about Harbaugh; he's a grown man, said some controversial things, and generally asked for some of what he's gotten. But this is totally different. If Tate really can't make grades for whatever reason, if he's legitimately trying, you people should be ashamed of yourselves. There's no way for any of us to know if that's the case so no one should be judging him for this. It's a damn shame.

Tate doesn't want to be criticized?

Don't give interviews to the media where you say it's "not that hard" not to flunk at Michigan, and then have it come out two days later you've flunked at Michigan.

Tate has opened himself up to a lot more than most players through his candor and his actions in the public eye.  If he didn't want to be criticized, maybe he shouldn't have gotten pouty-faced with a towel around his head, texted reporters he was going to transfer, or ran his mouth about academics.

He's an adult.  We can treat him as such if he's going choose to be in the public eye at this level.

Rich Rod knows he's getting the boot for JH so he told Tate (who was planning on transferring anyway) to bomb his classes (grades wouldn't matter, anyway, since he's transferring). When Robinson inevitably gets winded and has to sit out one play, RR will force DG to enter the game, eliminating any prospect for medical redshirting. JH comes in and Robinson transfers to Maryland (to pursue a starting QB position there with new HC RR). Gallon will be our starting quarterback next season. I have this on good authority from two sources that I can't name. Trust me on this - I wouldn't want to banish myself to Bolivia. I'm 95% certain.

Sidenote: is /s really necessary in certain situations? Also, has a precedent been set for using /f for /facetious?
