Summer Swarm II: Where should Harbaugh go?

Submitted by ThadMattasagoblin on

Last year Harbaugh said that he wanted to extend his satellite camp tour to 2 weeks. In addition to some of the old sites like Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, and Dallas etc., I was wondering what new places you want Harbaugh to go to. I think he should hold one in Louisiana, and the Atlanta area due to the sheer number of prospects down there. Cleveland and Cincinnati should also be in there just for the schadenfreude factor. Thoughts?

Prattville ( right in between Auburn and Alabama), New Orleans , St Louis, Tennessee ( memphis , Nashville, or Knoxville take a pick) , Miami, Tampa, Atlanta, LA, Charlotte, Houston, Dallas, Baltimore/DC/Virginia , NY/NJ,Chicago.

Thats 2 weeks worth of stops

I'd go where the players are. Possibilities:

Miami, Tampa Bay, Prattville, AL (again), NJ, Baltimore, Atlanta, LA, Bay Area, Dallas, Houston, Baton Rouge, Norfolk (already scheduled, iirc), Raleigh. Of course, there are plenty of other areas too. But I'd want to go reasonably close to where there are a bunch of guys playing who are decent.

Bradenton Florida. The more we can get into IMG the better. They're likely to have more top talent than any HS in the country over the next few years.

Love bobmurph's idea of pinging Stephen Ross to use Dolphin facilities in Miami.  Perfect. Do another day at IMG.

We just scored major recruits out of De La Salle in Concord, CA and Long Beach - 2 hotbeds in CA presumably with established relationships.

Virginia Beach/Tidewater area of Virginia is loaded with talent. Maybe one day there then a second day around DC

Somewhere around Houston, then somewhere around Dallas.

So:

Miami/Bradenton

Norcal/SoCal

VA Beach/DC

Houston/Dallas

Top 14 stops: IMG Academy covers north Florida; Miami Dolphins training facility for South Florida; Atlanta; Houston; Dallas; Santa Clara; Los Angeles; Philly (to pull NJ kids too); Pratville AL; Chicago; Cleveland (I assume northern Ohio is easier to pull from than Columbus); New Orleans; Tennessee; DC/Maryland/NorthernVirginia

Need one each in the DC/Baltimore area and the Virginia Tidewater region (Hampton Roads/Va. Beach/Richmond/Williamsburg). The three Power 5 schools in that region of the Mid-Atlantic (Maryland, Va. Tech and Virginia) are all transitioning into new coaching staffs. No better time to make inroads with the high schools in those areas than this year.

According to Hackett during an interview on WTKA, sounds like changes to the rules are pending having been recently agreed to by Power 5 representatives. Changes will restrict where satellite camps can be held based on the distance from organizing school's campus.

>> Listen to full Hackett interview   (part about potential satellite camp changes starts around the 9:00 mark)

How about a football field as close to sec headquarters as possible. And afterwards have the participant's led by coach Harbaugh take a tour of sec headquarters. And the so called sec higher-ups can explain to the youngsters why these love of football gatherings are amazing.

probably Auburn, AL too. They strike me as the two SEC schools most likely to be whiny.

Probably Houston, ATL, maybe NC and DC as well to get some hot spots more likely to land us some top players. Hard to pluck a lot of guys from the deep south

Las Vegas draw kids from Nevada, Utah, Arizona, So. Cal, Idaho, Colorado, and New Mexico. Plus start making connections with Bishop Gorman. Why BG you ask? They have a higher recruit composite score than IMG for 2017.

So the poor, miserable MGoBlog rejects can at least watch a little football in their dark swamp of abject isolation.
