kinda? I mean, we have dictionaries for a reason. In almost almost every professional field, whether it requires a degree or not, being very specific with words is critical.

words having specific meaning is key to accurate communication.

its cool you disagree, you do you and say whatever you’d like. call a helicopter a truck if you want.

"its cool you disagree, you do you and say whatever you’d like. call a helicopter a truck if you want."

It's "it's cool," as in "it is cool," rather than the possessive "its."

However, as others are pointing out, meaning and usage are constantly shifting. So your technically incorrect use of "its" is transitioning from wrong to acceptable.

And we don't call you X.

[Still, because some things do not get abbreviated doesn't mean all other things don't.]

BTW, I'm with you in feeling "natty" as shorthand gives "national championship" less respect. But, again, it's the players using it. And we do tend to follow players' usage. Bet.

While I dislike "natty" used in this way, it's been used by the players, and the official Facebook account of the football team.

I think it's valid use now.

I dont think anyone’s trying to “gate-keep” it and prevent its usage.

it just sounds silly to many (most?) of us … people are free to type whatever they want. Others are free to neg away.

I’m just saying …. “national title” is like the third thing that comes to mind when I hear/read “natty”

I wasn't suggesting that people should be trying to coerce language.

As for how people use negs, I think different people have held different assumptions. I certainly don't get negged by every user every time someone has a different belief or opinion. There are a handful of people who seem to neg a lot and now I understand better why. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

A discussion as old as time, but outting trolls is the best use case. It isn't the opposite of up voting, which is your point. There is a standard of posting that Ron points to in the link above. The comment section there is a great example of the trollish behavior not mentioned. I don't know where the "You Suck!" cheer came from, but I think it is a reflection of what you are pointing toward here.
