Josh was recently 100% to Washington and now Steve has put a crystal ball in for the good guys.

Yes. Not sure how high he'll rise but he has Michigan and Oregon offers so he's definitely better than his current rating. He is actually visiting Georgia this weekend, presumably with the goal of earning an offer. Michigan made a big impression on him but I personally am not confident in him committing to Michigan without seeing how this Georgia visit goes, and a presumable future Oregon visit.

As an older member of society, I remember the days where the Big House crowd was more like an opera audience opposed to what I saw Saturday night. I am so thrilled that the crowd showed up and represented HUGE for our visitors! I think the new additions help keep the crowd noise in the stadium, but GD that was awesome!

if you had one game to impress a 5 star Oline recruit against your primary rival Saturday's was it.

Inside and outside zone blocking schemes, great drive, angle, hook and stunt blocks  guys pulling and flying around.

There wasn't a more impressive position group on the field than the Oline.

Seriously, what team would you rather play for?

As a fellow oldster, I think the vastly increased volume of fan noise is due to both the addition of the skyboxes and the nature of today's fans.

My acoustical memories of games during the '70s are basically long stretches where the only noise was the drone of the banner-towing planes flying overhead punctuated by occasional cheering when something interesting was happening on the field. Most UM fans back then simply didn't get into continuous cheering, except for a small portion of the student body.

I am also an "older member of society", and have been attending games lo, these forty years past.  The stadium renovations have kept the sound in the stadium, and due to "The Miracle of Beer" there was a LOT of sound carried into the Big House for a night game.  That said, the enthusiasm I witnessed was an order of magnitude greater than I have frequently seen in Michigan Stadium.  Kudos to the crowd for bringing it for our team!

Winning + Obviously competent coaching + loud fans = Crystal Balls

Michigan IS a school of choice for a lot of kids.  We just need to meet them halfway by putting a team on the field that they want to be part of.  Granted we're only two games in but so far the 2021 version of Michigan resembles the 2020 version about as much as these two ladies:

Winning fixes everything.  Lets keep it rolling and get that 2015-2018 momentum going.

Ryan Day is no Urban Meyer on the recruiting trail or as a game day coach....the door is slightly ajar, need to take advantage here.

I’m no OSU Fan, but this is a hell of a hot take.

Day’s recruiting class rankings:

(all Composite Rankings)

2019: 14th

2020: 5th

2021: 2nd

That’s equal to what Urban has done.
and in terms of his ability as a game day coach, his record speaks for itself. Last Saturday is his first regular season loss ever. You could usually count on Urban to have one brain fart game a year where he would lose to an inferior team. We haven’t seen that with Day.

Ryan Day has recruited well.  Ryan Day has coached well.  My point is not that he is Rich Rod or Brady Hoke and will sink their program, it's simply that he's no Urban Meyer.

The most successful coaches of the past 2 decades in college football are?

1) Saban

Huge Gap

2) Meyer

3) Dabo

4) Pete Carrol ?

Ryan Day has huge shoes to fill and while I don't think an OSU death spiral is imminent, a regression back to the days of Tressel level success (still great, but not death star) is very feasible, leaving the door ajar for UM to take a step up and get to OSU's level if Harbaugh (coaching and recruiting) and AD (NIL) can get their shit in order.  I don't see Day as an insurmountable obstacle like a Saban or a Meyer.

I don't think it's a "hawt take" to say Day inherited an incredible situation at OSU from what Tressel had built and Meyer elevated, yet don't think it's sustainable without Meyer.  I'm not throwing out hyperbole like "OSU is done". It's simply an opinion that I don't expect him to be a generational coach like the guys listed above, hence the door is slightly ajar for UM to make up some ground.
