Spring Game Visitors
I've been keeping a handy dandy list of spring game visitors going. Though if you click the link below, be prepared to understand that some of these players have visited during the week. It's sort of a pain to differentiate who's visiting on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or for the game that isn't really a game.
Here's the LINK.
Of course, many are expecting Charlotte (NC) Providence Day 5-star quarterback Jadyn Davis to commit to Michigan today on SportsCenter. There's also some buzz that Kansas City (MO) Rockhurst offensive tackle Andrew Sprague (4-star, #9 OT, #160 overall) will commit this weekend or soon thereafter.
I will keep updating the visitors list, as I'm sure it will change several times over the next couple days.
Happy spring game weekend!
Is today the day that "JD comin'" actually happens?!

Please, don't ever use that phraseology with regard to Michigan players or coaches.
March 31st, 2023 at 12:03 PM ^
Yeah, especially not with this timing, ostensibly single-digit hours from some icky dysphemism like “JD came”
March 31st, 2023 at 12:32 PM ^
I was negged for saying this phrasing was bad for this reason a couple of weeks ago.
The phrase, which I forgot, is from the Wire and "Omar's coming."
That said the connotation out of context is there and should be avoided IMHO.

Fuck. That is such an incredible show.
Feels like an exciting day for Michigan football. I have no idea if Davis will be an elite QB at Michigan, but locking up his commitment seems monumental for an entirely different reason. If this class turns into a top-5ish group loaded with talent, it will feel like not only have the last two years been great, but that success may be sustainable. LFG!
The only debbie downer part of all of this is that if Harbaugh would not have flirted with Minnesota, last year would have been this year too.
It's all turning out pretty well...not really feeling any downer at this point
With last year, this class, and what we're looking forward to on paper for this year... you have to be REALLY fun at parties to still be thinking about the Minnesota interview
Champeen, respectfully - I disagree.
You have to look at the perpetual stranglehold that Georgia, Bama, and OSU - among other schools - have had on recruiting for over a decade.
Players who committed last year - really, didn't know if Michigan's '21 season was a "flash in the pan" or something sustainable. It seems that Michigan's win over the Buckeyes in '22 reflected some "sustainability".
The interest of a prospect - and, their short list - it begins several years before they commit.
I'm not downvoting you, but I dont think last year would have mattered much. You have to remember that last years class had already visited other schools and had their hearts set on where they wanted to go long before Michigan beat osu and made the playoff.
Recruiting a top 2022 class was going to be tough. Michigan wasnt even ranked at the start of the 2021 season. The 2023 class had over a year to visit and consider Michigan, and see them beat osu twice. I think that extra year of dominance makes a difference. Not to mention seeing all the players that are returning to complete the job, and see the awards the players are getting.

Fresh out of the time machine? Otherwise we have no idea. NIL was also a massive factor and we were still a bit of a "flash in the pan" in regards to could we continue to beat OSU.
King,
IIRC, Ryan Day - the "Just for Men" spokesman who sidelines on third base as the head coach of Buckeye football - addressed a group of Buckeye Boosters and told them "We need a few million to just keep this team together". He said that a year ago.
So, infer as you wish - but, it sounds like those Buckeyes had a "let's get dough to the guys on this roster - by whatever means necessary - and, I need YOU to come up with the benjamins." Perhaps - the inference is - those boys in Columbus had more than a bit of "brown bagging" going on before NIL.

No teenager's memory is going to be holding on to Jim's flirtation with the Vikes at this point. I believe the question of "Is the coach actually leaving or not this year?" is the only salient issue in recruiting. The rest is noise, and to say that top recruits are incapable of filtering that out is demeaning to them, they are smarter than that. While Harbaugh's posturing last year certainly raised the question for last year's recruiting, it has no bearing on this year.
Happy Friday Brethren! Commit-a-palooza starts today!
Buckle up Brothers and Sisters !
Yes. Last week Marshall and Roebuck were just appetizers-very good appetizers. The cake has been baked and all indications are that the icing is going to be quite generous. Sugar high is coming.
Watermelon sugar high?

My apologies. By no means a fan - I leave that to my daughters - but it was teed up perfectly.
Christ there's a class of '27 kid on the list
I woke up with a twinge in my knee and back this morning from just sleeping wrong as if I didn't already feel old today.
March 31st, 2023 at 11:10 AM ^
Throw in the shoulders and I wake up that way every single day.

I’m 46 and it never hurt to sleep until I got to 43. Welcome to the tail end of Middle Age.
51 here and I feel ya! Kept blaming my old mattress until we got a new one...still have the aches.
... and he's a 135 lb QB who definitely doesn't look older than his age. That must be fun to try and project.
...and Maryland has already offered.
Got to love Crootin

He looks like he's about six years old in that picture too.
Your effort is always appreciated, Magnus.

so, it's Spring of 8th grade? These don't normally work out, right? I wish him well!
This recruiting moment feels like Michigan has just taken possession of the ball up 31-23 in a nerve wracking game. We are all thinking, 'just put together some first downs', then ...
WHICH ONE?
Is there a feed we can watch online for the 1:30pm commit?

when i type that in, it take me to this, and navigating it i do not see anything related to his commitment....
Thanks for the update! I upvoted, despite that you can't differentiate who's visiting on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or for the game that isn't really a game!
LOL!!! Hope you have a good weekend!
Hey Mags good to hear from you again. Thanks for the continuous info. Again years ago I only joined Mgoblog because of you and that great pic of Brandon. GO BLUE
Thanks!
I'm still collecting the royalty checks from MGoBlog for getting you to sign up. LOL.
mags, thanks for the list, as others have said.
do you happen to know what time the hoped-for announcement from JD will be?
Word on the street is ~1:30 Eastern.
Underwood has been up like 3 of the last 4 weekends or something like that. It’s a stunning difference in how aggressive they’ve been with elite QB recruits and how that’s paid off with reciprocal interest.
March 31st, 2023 at 11:44 AM ^
Hearing everything about Underwood being a generational talent and how people view him to be like Justin Fields in college, I REALLY want him to come to Michigan. I really hope that JD committing doesn't scare him away. But I imagine the person who is likely to be the overall #1 recruit in the country won't be scared.

Dante Moore visited a ton and we know how that ended. We have a punchers chance now but I will not have any type of confidence about Underwood when there is a bit more smoke.
