Soundtrack of 08

So I got this idea reading Espn's bottom 10 by David Duffey and thought this might be a fun way to make light of the 2008 football season by having a few laughs and giving a unique way to look back on it. Everyone seems so pessimistic so I thought this might raise some spirits. So I was just thinking people should add songs and give a little justification. ie. Oops I did it again-Britney Spears: When we decided to muff kick offs or punts I can see clearly now - Johnny Nash: For the times when we saw glimpses of what the offense's potential and why we need to endure this season Cotton eyed joe-Rednex: Because this song with the image of RichRod jumping around in overalls with a piece of straw hanging out of his mouth comes into my mind whenever I see his name and snake oil used together

This season was a little bit of everything all rolled into ones It's a bitch (fans complaining), it's a lover (WLA) It's a child (true frosh), it's a (Trent's hot) mother it's a sinner (family values), it's a saint (Carson Butler), I do not feel ashamed! (of being a Michigan fan) It's your hell (9 losses), It's your dream (3 wins) It's nothing in between You know, you wouldn't want it any other way

For us Michigan fans - Illumination by Rollins Band "Illumination comes so hard, makes me see but leaves its scars At times I wish I didn't know, What I know now Thought and thought 'til I lost my mind, Looked and looked 'til I went near blind, The path is fair but so unkind, Illumination."

There is only one song for this season. I found myself singing this all through the Ohio State game. It's the anthem of '08. Let me take you down, 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields. (Green football fields across the Midwest, covered in blood, much of it ours) Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about. (This isn't the Rich Rod era's defining moment. Walk-on quarterbacks isn't going to be the norm) Strawberry Fields forever. Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see. (and then posting it on message boards) It's getting hard to be someone but it all works out. (it will!) It doesn't matter much to me. (the OSU game, the 3-9 record, all of it) No one I think is in my tree, I mean it must be high or low. (Local, national sportsmedia, general fans, who else is in my tree preaching moderate patience? Why must Rich Rod be an Angel--hight--or Demon--low--after Year One?) That is you can't you know tune in but it's all right. That is I think it's not too bad. Always no sometimes think it's me, but you know I know when it's a dream. (Or a bad nightmare) I think, er No, I mean, er Yes but it's all wrong. That is I think I disagree. (Pretty much sums up the season) This song allowed me to make sense of the season, at least up until the 3rd quarter of Ohio State, at which point I gave up on lyrics and just started dropping strawberry bombs and flinging red paint. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98ZoPtIdR2I

Sometimes I'm in a jam I've gotta make a plan It might be crazy I do it anyway No way to know for sure I'll figure out a cure I'm patchin' up the holes But then it overflows If I'm not doin' to well Why be so hard on my self? Nobody's Perfect! I gotta work it! Again and again 'til I get it right Nobody's Perfect! You live and you learn it! And if I mess it up sometimes... Nobody's perfect Sometimes I work a scheme But then it flips on me Doesn't turn out how I planned get stuck in quick sand No problem, can't be solved Once I get involved I try to be delicate Then crash right into it My intentions are good Sometimes just misunderstood Nobody's Perfect! I gotta work it! Again and again 'til I get it right Nobody's Perfect! You live and you learn it! And if I mess it up sometimes... Nobody's perfect Nobody's perfect! I gotta work it! I know in time I'll find a way Nobody's perfect! Sometimes I fix things up And they fall apart again Nobody's perfect I might mix things up But I always get it right in the end Next time you feel like... it's just one of those days... when you just can't seem to win If things don't turn out the way you plan, FIGURE SOMETHING ELSE OUT! Don't stay down! Try again! YEAH! Everybody makes mistakes..... everybody has those days..... everybody knows what, what I'm talkin' 'bout....... everybody gets that way Nobody's Perfect! I gotta work it! Again and again 'til I get it right! Nobody's Perfect! Ya live and ya learn it! And if I mess it up sometimes... Nobody's Perfect! I gotta work it! I know in time I'll find a way Nobody's Perfect. Ya live and ya learn it! 'Cause everybody makes mistakes Nobody's Perfect! No no! Nobody's Perfect!

he's so depressing and killed himself and watching this season I sometimes thought about it... "I Better Be Quiet Now" Wish you gave me your number Wish I could call you today Just to hear a voice I got a long way to go Getting further away If I didn't know the difference Living alone'd probably be okay It wouldn't be lonely I got a long way to go Getting further away A lot of hours to occupy, it was easy When I didn't know you yet Things I'd have to forget But I better be quiet now Tired of wasting my breath Carrying on, getting upset Maybe I have a problem But that's not what I wanted to say I prefer to say nothing I got a long way to go Getting further away. Had a dream as an army man with an order Just to march in my place But a dead enemy Screams in my face But I better be quiet now I'm tired of wasting my breath Carrying on, not over it yet Wish I knew what you're doing And why you wanna do it this way So I can't go the distance I got a long way to go I'm getting further away I got a long way to go I'm getting further away. (edit: upon writing this it makes even more sense...) p.s. you can totally find this on the youtubez.
