Somewhat OT-FL DE Aaron Lynch Backs Off Notre Dame Commitment
According to Tom, FL DE Aaron Lynch has decommitted from Notre Dame. He's the number 9 DE in the class, according to scout, and number 7 to Rivals. Here's to hoping a little bit of tasty Schadenfreude improves some of your days.

But thanks for trying.

Didn't help because we don't need DE's anyway

last I knew the D in DE's stands for Defensive. This team can use anything defensive to help its cause.

There's nothing wrong with the d-line, it's the d-backs with most of the problem. The LB's aren't so hot either.

but I don't remember the UM defense getting lots of pressure on opposing QB's this year, or making tackles with backside pursuit. I think we could use DE's who are rated #9 in the country. For that matter, we could use anyone who is rated #9 at their position in the country (with the possible exception of QB).

You've got a point with backside pursuit, but I think we've dealt a fair deal of pressure with our line. It's just that the secondary isn't giving them any time to get to the quarterback.

We'd probably just try and turn him into a linebacker anyway.

good call

Or an offensive lineman

There is no position on this defense where added depth would be a negative. I say, bring them in and then let's worry about where they line up later.

This is true... assuming Van Bergen and Banks don't graduate. Ever.

DG - I like your positive posts.
A refreshing change from the rest of the board in crisis mode.
Nice work.
+1

As a fan, I'm always looking for some hope/happiness instead of dwelling. I find it allows me to improve my mood significantly after a loss like last night. Purpetuating the angst/distress doesn't help much.

But, I think this view is only held by the minority of posters.
I'm looking forward to the next win - I hope it comes soon.

IT'LL NEVER COME! EVER!
I blame Yost for getting our expectations so high...FIRE YOST HISTORICALLY!!!! ARGGHHH

Yes please.

Well we could be seeing some decommits ourselves. You know when you're following recruiting so closely that your team is struggling. Its like if you have an NFL team and are looking forward to the draft.

But I'm fairly sure that the only two we need to worry about are Sousa and Brown, and those seem to be somewhat mutual choices, both sides going their own ways. I don't think we have to worry about anyone else.

Let's remember Dee was waiting to see how we looked. Starting off 5-0 and ending 6-6 could easily lead him to go somewhere else.

I'd be surprised. The recruits who were worried about RR job security haven't committed yet - Zettel and Bryant.
I think the others are excited to play for M regardless - like K. Jones, Hart, and Beyer.

That is the second DE they have had decommit recently, looks like it could be a long off season for them
October 31st, 2010 at 1:49 PM ^
But still, I look at their commitment list and feel no pity.
October 31st, 2010 at 2:07 PM ^
Commitments mean nothing so why are they even listed anymore? Opposing coaches don't stop recruiting a kid who is committed, they just negatively recruit the school they're committed to. Unless an early signing period is installed I don't want to hear about commitments anymore because these days they mean nothing.
October 31st, 2010 at 2:18 PM ^
It doesn't help and the reason is last night's loss opens us up to exactly the same kind of attack from our recruiting competitors...

After seeing what the ND program had to endure this week, I've taken a break from rooting against that program. I'm not rooting for them, but leaving them alone.
I mean, Schadenfreude and ND is probably not the best idea right now. Of course, I know you didn't mean any harm in the post.
October 31st, 2010 at 4:56 PM ^
...I always root against ND, just on principle. However, the rather tragic events of the past week have caused for me to feel some sympathy for their athletes. This said, I'd be happy if this young man wanted to consider M.
October 31st, 2010 at 5:25 PM ^
Like I said last week, I would be tickled to death if M and ND went back to national dominance and the game meant more than what it is now. That, and OSU went back into mediocrity.
