Some old ABC college football themes, to get you pumped
Happened to get to thinking about how great the ABC intros were before ESPN ruined them. Looked some up and what do you know, just as great as I remembered, especially the BCS theme. Takes me back to being a kid, just like every time I walk back into the Big House. Gonna be hard to sleep tonight, cant wait to be back with 107,601 of my closest friends!

Thanks for this! I was thinking the FS1 graphics were the worst I’ve ever seen. There is hope

Thanks for sharing these. Brings back some memories.
When I opened them, my sidebar on YouTube showed a series of Michigan football intros from the past put together by WolverineHistorian. Many of them go back before my time...

Some I remember, some I've heard stories about, and some of the others...🤷♂️

Against Texas A&M? Never knew Texas A& M ever came to Ann Arbor? Would that have been during the Bo years? Wasn’t he rumored to almost take the head coaching job there??

That one was before my time. I think I was only 1 at the time (1977?) but the google says Yep!
According to Winsipedia, they played twice in AA, both during Bo's time (Michigan won both).

Yes Hoek and Blue@LSU, I remember watching that game live with Keith Jackson and a&m was highly ranked with a great kicker, Tony Franklin I think, they went up 3-0 on us and we proceeded to score 41 unanswered points.
That was a great day and I believe it vaulted us to #1 till we inexplicably lost 16-0 to Minnesota, ugh.
BTW, the greatest intro song ever was for Michigan Replay, I loved and miss that show so much.

I remember that one too. Believe it or not, we were all petrified of Tony Franklin, for some reason. I mean, I was only like 10, so I was easily persuaded that each team coming in was a serious threat, but I thought Franklin would hit field goals from 60 yards out on every possession and beat us.
I learned not to be too worried about a team whose best player is a field goal kicker.

I remember it too. I must be old enough to remember but not too old to have forgotten. We thought it was going to be a tough match up but we blew them out. It was before they offered Bo the contract.

I was at that 1977 game as sophomore. Drank with some A&M fans the night before and sat behind a couple of them during the game. Tense game. A&M was ranked ahead of Michigan at the time. A&M took a 3-point lead and lead for a good while. Michigan scored just before half to take the lead and then blew it open in the second half to win 41-3.
An A&M co-worker once told me that that was the worst game he ever attended. I told him, no doubt, because for me, that was the best game I had ever attended up to that time.
The A&M fans bragged about how much they pay for tickets. I told them we were smart enough to build a bigger stadium. Good times. It was with those fans that I decided that I would treat opposing fans with respect as I was embarrassed to find that were treating me better than I was treating them.

Rumored? He was offered $2M, use of a private jet, his own TV and radio deals, and was wined and dined by some Texas oilmen on the sales job. If you're wondering, that $2M business was unheard of at the time. So unheard of that Bo had to wonder where it was coming from - the Texas oilmen no doubt. He was worried about the 'cheating' aspect of boosters chipping in to pay that kind of salary.
Dude, Bo was the original Blue Hair... He clutched the ever-loving shit out of those pearls making the decision not to go to aTm...

Damn, I didn’t know all of that. Thank you for a brief history lesson! 2M and a private jet back then! Wow!

Ann Arbor was absolutely on tenterhooks during that time. It was on every radio station, etc. It was like Harbaugh considering going to the NFL, but on steroids. When Bo announced he was staying it was a massive relief.

We won 41-3

Hey Hoek, I hope your wife is recovering well and will continue to be doing well moving forward!!!
I just went through a similar ordeal with my GF of 30 years, we're practically married as we also live together, anyway, she went through breast cancer surgery in May and in July I took her to get radiation treatment for 19 straight days and she's recovering well.
You'll be in my thoughts, good luck and stay positive!
Go Blue!

My prayers to you and your significant other! I hope for continued healing and nothing but the best for you two!
it has been hell, it has been one set back after another, that why we leave Kzoo to go to Ann Arbor. However even the surgery she had in July didn’t work, which is why she was in another one on Thursday. Now a few months break and back to Ann Arbor for the next surgery. 3C cancer Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, that was not caught early and had already spread when we found out 2 1/2 years ago.

Perfect! The agony of defeat was iconic. EVERYONE (any lukewarm sports fan with a TV) knew about the "agony of defeat". It was one of the tag lines of a generation of sports fans and fodder for many comedians.

The 2003 OSU intro will forever be my favorite. 100th meeting, Keith Jackson, just gets me right in the heart every time.

This is/was an NFL song but wouldn't it be great to hear in November before 'The Game'?
