Snowflakes and hot takes for the coaching overall versus UNLV will go in this thread.

Dude. They punted the ball on a 4th and 2 with 6 minutes to go. If they thought they had a chance they would not have done that. They basically were conceding defeat on that play.

The closest they got was almost getting within 14 points on teh last snap of the game.

It was underwhelming no doubt, but it wasn't really close.

Last two minutes of the first half was very Hokeish, as was putting a safety in single coverage against their best WR two plays in a row.

Not really coaching, but overall a very underwhelming game. Time to reset expectations. Again. Blerg. Maybe shouldn't have notched them up after Oregon St. Was really looking for UM to really take a step forward and dominate.

You said it best, underwhelming. Rudock does not look capable of stealing any games from the big boys. Very inaccurate even on some completions. As big a fan as I am, can't see them beating Sparty and OSU. Defense will need to play out of their minds. I see 2 almost sure losses (OSU, MSU), 2 almost sure wins (IU and Rutgers) and 4 nail biters, low scoring defensive struggles. Just being realistic, really, has anyone been impressed with our QB play. Hope I m wrong.

Man you sound like a wet stinky sock rag. So sick of the sky is falling mentality by some of the fanbase. JH was spreading the wealth with the players for teaching and reward purposes. He wants to develop a deep and experienced team it's so obvious. Some rough spots are obvious that have to be addressed but overall Michigan looks like a sound football team that beats the people they should. That is a vast improvement vs last year when we were biting our nails vs the zips. The kids are meshing gaining confidence and clearly getting better each week.

I think they were trying some things they could get away with against UNLV which is why things didn't look like a snuff film we were hoping for.  Obviously there's a lot to improve on but we all knew that to begin with.  It'll all pay dividends later on because Harbaugh isn't Hoke

I had the same feeling throughout the game, that some experiments were being run with units and personnel, things you likely wouldn't try next week versus BYU, much less in conference play. I don't mind that necessarily and hopefully they found some plays they can refine and use later - this staff has already shown an ability to improve and adjust.

Obviously we have the better coaches but the game wasn't a confidence builder from at least my perspective. Hopefully a good example of what poor execution can do.

OK, if they are going to bring back the helmet stickers, they need to add a twist:  You can lose them for bad plays.

Peel them right off the helmet.

I'll be honest, the second half just seemed like a "let's just run out the clock and maybe try a couple things in the process" job. Which is totally fine against UNLV, but it doesn't get my hopes up when those things simply don't work and we look like hot garbage.

We'll get there.

This game was over basically as soon as UM stepped on the field.  UNLv didn't really pressure UM to change, and Harbaugh seemed happy to just run reps with his offense and not break out anything too extreme.

It remains a decent offense with lots of janky parts, and a defense that is very good but not great.  Thought the running game plan was a bit underwhelming, but that might also be due to the fact that UM didn't really try to do anything unique here.

Agreed
The game felt like a win the whole way.
Sure - Rudock has a hard time throwing downfield.
Yes - the O-line has issues at times.
But, there was some really great development stuff (looking at the RBs especially), very few mental errors and drastically improved special teams play.
This is not a top 25 team. It might be (not that likely this year). They are still working on so many things. But, they won a game that they were supposed to win. And the victory was never in doubt.

That final time out from them was completely classless.

Didn't like the blitz call that gave up their only play, but it almost got there.

Don't understand why we didn't take the penalty at the half. Not a huge deal, but a difference of about 20 yards for them
