A couple of things surprised me. He is a 4 year starter and still only 16 years old. Held offers from Cal, MSU, BC, Iowa, Pitt, NC ST, and Wisconsin etc., but the second he received the Michigan offer he committed. Just a gut feeling, but I think our "D' will be pretty special with Durkin and Mattison this year. They were very solid last year with our offense constantly putting them in a bad position.

This is what gives me great hope for the season. If the defense was exactly the same as last year (which it won't be. It will be better) and the offense can improve slightly and decrease turnovers, that could equate to 2-3 more wins.

You both nailed it.  People just don''t see this for some reason.  7 or 8 wins just is not going to happen IMO.

The defense will IMO be top 10 in the nation.  The biggest game is that damn Utah game.  Harbaugh will have this team rolling mid-way through the year.  But that Utah game scares me.  It will still be a Harbaugh WIP team.

IF Michigan can get past Utah and beat them, look out.  Team could be special.

I look forward most to seeing the QB development and improvement in the offensive line.

talent. The cupboard was not left bare although it is filled with unsed crockery.

Darboh, Cole, Harris, Drake Johnson, Isaac, Butt, Bunting, Canteen, and Green is a a mixture of inexperience with experience, but definitely talented. Rudock is a good manager and that's all UM needs this year.

Oh and not having Darrell "Uptown" Funk as OL coach will surely help. The OL, more than anything, will be the key to the season. If they perform to the level of their star rankings UM's offensive should be *gasp* good. Not great, but good.

I think you may be underestimating what quality coaching can do for a talented group of kids. My expectations are quite high for this team. They have something to prove and Harbaugh will have them pumped. If we beat Utah which I think we will could be a great season. Shit look at Hoke's first year, I think this team is much better than 2011.

He's also in the mold of what Narduzzi wants. Kid had an MSU offer, then Narduzzi offered him again once he got to Pitt.

This guy will be special in Durkin's schemes. Love that Narduzzi wanted him so badly. SIR Scott could become All-B1G from tons of early developmental play time - high ceiling given he is only 16 years old. Looking forward to his development. Defense recruiting is shaping up this year. Need Gary and Kemp to join. Then watch out for more 2017 recruits - going to be a big hall next year of 5&4-star defensive players who will see early playtime, especially at CB/LB/DE. Building a legit national title contender for 2018-20. CAN YOU BELIEVE WE HAVE HARBAUGH !

If that weight is accurate he might end up at S down the road.  192 lbs as a 16 yr old?  That's 17 lbs more than he is listed at on 247.  Once he puts on 15 lbs of "always good weight" after a yr or 2 in college S&C, going to be nearing 210.  He is also young enough he might still add an inch or two vertically. (or more)

Interesting that Magnus has such a low rating on the kid - will be interesting how he turns out and where on the field he finishes up.

I'm not shooting down Magnus in any way but scouting is one of the hardest things to do at any level. Also it's impossible to predict potential, there's no way to see inside a kid and how he will grown physically, add in the mental make up and all the distractions they will face in college. I'm

Would you like him more as a safety if he grows into that?  Your concerns seem to center around athleticism.   I was thinking he might be a cool 6'2 225+ lb speedy OLB in 3 yrs too if his body frame can handle that growth.  A "not fast corner" can be a "very fast" LB.  At his height and age - esp if he adds an inch or two he could end up in a few places on the field 3 years down the road depending what he tops out at.   Our heaviest DBs are 205 now and those are all safety types - the corners are sub 200.  Lyons and Watson look to be the only 2 corners even over 180 lbs.  If Scott was on the roster today he'd already be the 2nd heaviest corner behind Lyons.

Well, he's 6'0" right now, so I'm not sure if 6'2", 225 lbs. is within reach. I wouldn't love him as a safety, either. I just think he lacks great athleticism and playmaking skills. Plus his biggest asset is his long arms and physicality at the line of scrimmage, so playing him at safety removes that aspect of his game.

Thanks.  247 has him at 6'1 but they also had him at 175.

Sounds like you wont like him anywhere on the defense :) Maybe at slot WR? haha.

Well if he ends up being a 205-210 lb corner he is going to be tough to get off the line against even if he suffers once you get past him.   Maybe he can become a guy you slot against opposing tight ends on passing downs as well.

I had to see what "chiseled" meant in relation to that '17 running back out of GA and damn- built like a truck.  OMGShirtless would die.

Always wondered why grown men like you want to drool over a teenage males body. Omgshirtless it the most pedophile shit ever and is just weird. Talk about creeping out recruits...weird man, just weird. Bring back Kate Upton.

Is omgshirtless, emphasis on shirtless, not a meme around here? You brought it up man, people post shirtless pics of teenage guys on here, do they not? Its just a weird and creepy meme. Saying a guy is jacked is one thing, grown men saying OMGSHIRTLESS LOOK AT THAT 6 PACK, is another. Not to mention posting pics of it. To each their own I suppose.

Bring back Kate Upton!

If I didn't know any better (and I don't, because this is the internet), I'd say you were projecting your own subconscious thoughts onto us in hopes of avoiding your own unresolved guilt. Lighten up. Football is a game based on strength and athleticism. A good way to judge those qualities is by looking at muscle mass. Everyone knows why we get excited when our recruits look like Mr Olympia at 17, and it's not because our peepees are happy.

The "OMG Shirtless" thing goes back a long way on MGoBlog and, as far as I can recall, has its origins more in being a humorous retort to an actual request of shirtless photos (possibly of Tim Tebow when he was being recruited, but I can't remember precisely - still a creepy request), and then it morphed into a somewhat sarcastic standard reply (photo included typically) to just about any supposed blue chip recruit. That is to say, it is very much rooted in the blog tradition of snark and cynicism, but I can see the confusion if you don't have the context, I suppose.

It would be creepier if MGoBloggers were taking the shirtless pictures. As it stands, usually these recruits are the ones posting shirtless pictures or at least taking their shirts off at football camps where they know photographers are working. My guess is that most big-time athletes who go shirtless are not worried that someone on the internet will see their six-pack or biceps or whatever.
