Sideline Staff for UM/ND to Wear Stars and Stripes
Per MVictors, Adidas will be showcasing a "Stars and Stripes" edition of sideline gear via UM this weekend.
Edit: This post originally discussed a PR individual's gaffe in stating "jersey" rather than "sideline gear." Do not panic. Jerseys will remain the same. The matrix is not real. You took the blue pill. Nice day we're having, eh?

When had the away jersey ever meant anything? The last Nike jerseys had only been around for a few years and had meaningless maize stripes as well, and that uniform was replacing another design introduced by Nike that had been around for less than a decade.
And really, you are worried about Adidas doing something goofy for every away game, but want to switch to Nike?

Don't really want to switch to Nike with that Pro Combat silliness. And point taken about the transience of the away jerseys - but I do really hate the maize striping on them.

I first saw the headline and immediately didn't like it, but there have been some good thinking on this thread. So I am cool with whatever. No big deal if they change things up in light of the date.

does anyone have a picture of the jerseys yet?

They look something like this.

but not as subtle

As long as it doesn't take away from the Michigan brand more so then Adidas already does then I am fine with it. No problem what so ever to honor those who were a victim or a hero on 9/11.

i am all for remembering 9/11, no new jerseys tho.
Our colors are Our colors

just hats and Ts. All Adidas is selling through Mden are hats and T's (although they may throw in a Polo or 2, who knows).

i wouldn't have minded if they subbed the yellow on this with red

Red on a Michigan game jersey? Far too close to scarlet for my taste.

I'd mind. UNACCEPTABLE!!

MVictors got him to correct his statement. Everybody calm down.

Thank you.

For each game after 9/11, Michigan wore an American flag patch on the upper left part of their jerseys. It was a subtle, but fitting tribute. I don't see why the 9th anniversary of that event requires a special jersey.

I'm a vet, and I'm glad this isn't happening. Even if it wouldn't be an affront to human decency, wearing special clothes is the kind of BS token gesture that I cannot stand.
Instead, do something meaningful, like donating all the money used to design, and the projected profits from, the new clothes and jerseys to the Wounded Warrior project.

Oh man I hope I can get some of these, they'll go great with the american flag painted on the back of my PICKUP TRUCK

you're not an American... Mr. Osama BinStrafe

they should have put it into the Constitution
September 9th, 2010 at 5:02 PM ^
I plan on wearing this regardless of what the players wear.
These colors don't run.
September 9th, 2010 at 6:36 PM ^
Wouldn't it be better for them to do this at Iowa or Illinois?

Did you know Adidas is German? Think about it--those dirty Huns are getting the early century itch.
