SI.com's "Top 40 Workout Warriors": #5 Will Make You Soil Yourself!
It's Rashan Gary:

The Wolverines are listed by some preseason magazines as having only one returning starter on defense, but that’s misleading. They have a bunch of guys who, like Gary, played extensively last year. While playing on a loaded D-line, Gary had 27 tackles and five tackles for loss as a true freshman. Expectations are sky high for him to be one of the nation’s biggest breakout players in 2017. Jim Harbaugh certainly stokes those expectations when he tweeted out some off-season workout numbers that spotlighted Gary’s athleticism. On it, the 6’5”, 287-pounder was listed as timing a 4.57 in the 40, fastest among not only Michigan D-linemen, but also the linebackers (a 4.63 was the best among those). Gary also vertical jumped 31 inches and broad-jumped 9’6”. The other number that was truly stunning at his size was the 6.70 L-drill time. At the 2017 NFL combine, the fastest time for all D-linemen was a 6.85, and you have to go back six years to find a D-lineman that clocked a fastest time than Gary’s 6.70. Sam Acho ran a 6.69 and he did that weighing 25 pounds less. The fastest L-drill time among all Wolverine DBs was a 6.79 and among linebackers was a 6.89.
Underrated.
Better than Rashan? Yes please.
Well he was the consensus #1 overall recruit, being compared to Clowney so it's understandable.
from opposing QBs.
Wow Bruce Feldman didn't take long to get rolling on a new job. Your loss fox sports.
I did soil myself and let me tell you.
The backups are going to have to grow up fast, though. I feel more than confident in the starters with Winovich, Gary, Mone and Hurst (should they all stay healthy), but everyone behind them has taken next to zero meaningful college snaps. And a lot of them are true freshmen or RS freshmen.
I think the starters on the DL could be better than the starters we had last year, but the depth right now is nowhere even close to what it was a year ago. And unless the young guys grow up quickly, that could be problematic in tight games.
...so no one is going to mention how the article is over a week old and has already made it to MGoBlog?
Okay, cool...yes, Gary is going to be nearly unstoppable. And when teams do stop him, it'll be because he's double teams with a RB or helping...meaning Winovich, Mone, Hurst and Bush are about to have HUGE years as well.
We have 12 regular season games. I'll set the over/under at 15.5 opposing QBs who take meaningful snaps (meaning no mop-up duty).
I think the boys topped that last year. Pretty sure they knocked 1/2 dozen out for a play at least.
Actually I think you're right...I want to say we saw new QBs in like 4-5 games going into Rutgers. I just can't remember if they all were knocked out. Colorado was, and we knocked 2 out against UCF.
Okay, let's make it 18.5
I soiled myself just based on the OP's title.
Also, the premise that the DL is going to be great despite players graduating and going off to the NFL is great in that even our rivals don't challenge it much. With Harbaugh and his merry band on the recruiting trail, we're finally getting back to "RELOAD" rather than "REBUILD" mode.
Giggity.
lives up to his potential, and the rest of the D line gets enough push to keep him from constantly being tag teamed.
Frank Clark was a decent end, but I am hoping to see a Brandon Graham or Woodley type performance from the DE position.
cus these pants are SOILED
He will hurt some too...with those workout numbers, he will be too much for anyone to handle.
Too late.
Only 2 months.
