SIAP: Michigan Football sets team 30+ points record

Submitted by Murder Wolv on October 8th, 2023 at 7:29 PM

According to MGoBlue.com:

U-M totaled 52 points in the game, marking the ninth straight game with Michigan scoring at least 30 points, a streak that began at Ohio State last fall. That is the longest such streak in program history, snapping the eight-game stretch set in 1976.

While the record is nice, I posted this because the streak began at the OSU game last year, which makes the record that much more delicious.

Back in my day, Bo used to score 10 points and try to win the game with defense.  And WE LIKED IT!

Congrats to the creative coaches and players who put in the work.

So, I immediately assumed that this was one of those records where they thought college football started in 1976 or something, but I checked the Point-a-Minute teams, and sure enough, none of them had a streak longer than eight.

Of course, some of those games were called at halftime or at the end of the third quarter. :)

cool stat. this blog (and the entire fanbase) has been begging for a high capacity offense that can rack up points for decades.

well, here we are. and we have a defense to match

How could it be the longest in history when Michigan's history includes "point a minute" teams?

Never mind.  Someone already addressed this.
