SI has become a reactionary rag.  This team’s been special all year, not just against PSU.  Nebraska (I was at that Maelstrom of Corn) was gritty, too.  It took dropped passes, Refs, and a Heisman candidate for MSU to beat them, but it wasn’t for want of effort or grit.

While I fully agree that SI is nothing but a rag these days, this particular linked column is a cut or two above 99% of the content they now publish.

My initial reaction to the fact that it came from SI was that I likely would delete it, but after a quick skim of the article (and seeing also that it wasn't written by Brandon Brown), I'm leaving it on the board.

Yes, Brandon Brown was a frequent poster who seemed to be angling for a job here.  He never got one, or came close as far as I can tell.  It's reasonable to guess that Brian sussed out that his contributions would be...unhelpful.  Tom VH and Steve Lorenz did the same kind of thing but were much better at it.  In fact, Lorenz had a job here for 2 seconds until 247 made him a better offer.

I do think they are headed the right direction, and do agree that previous M teams probably would have folded at Nebraska and at PSU. However, the script has flipped? I'm not quite sure I agree with that. I am very happy with the season so far, but that have a very crucial game coming in 2 weeks.

I thought Hutchinson’s post-game comment about Michigan not having any player leadership over the last few years was interesting.

Definitely excited.  These guys have leadership and a certain 'fight' we can all appreciate as fans.

Will be in college park, MD next Saturday. Look forward to seeing thousands in blue.

Dear Sommy.

What were your expectations at the beginning of this season? For sure, mine were not 9-1 at this point.  Have you ever been to Happy Valley?  This was a big, solid, come from behind win when all history says we fold when PSU takes the lead

I wish you a better world. For tonight, I am happy and you are not. My deink therefore tastes much better than yours. I drink of victory. Not sure what you are drinking. Hope not Hemlock.

GO BLUE BEAT THE TURTLES!! That is all.

Eh, fair enough. But they were also ranked No. 7 in some advanced-metrics-ranking that Seth cited going into the game, and Harbaugh's team has now beaten Wisconsin, Penn State, and Nebraska -- all on the road.

I will agree with you that people here seem -- in my opinion -- to be seriously over-estimating this team's chances against Ohio State. I'm already wincing in anticipation of that game.

On the other hand ... isn't the point of playing to win? If Michigan wins the National Championship while still not getting much for style points ... are you going to turn up your nose at it?

Frankly, I enjoyed seeing All race down the sideline. I'm in a good mood tonight. 9-1, after last year? This is awesome. Sorry you're bummed.

I don't get how anyone can be upset after this win and 9-1.

Everything has improved. The defense has made huge strides. The OL has improved significantly. The running game is fantastic. The passing game has improved from earlier in the year. Even the in-game coaching, scheme, and playcalling have improved -- perhaps not as much as some would like, but it has improved.

Do we have flaws? Sure. Could things be improved, especially from a scheme and playcalling point of view. Sure. But at some point, you have to enjoy the ride. I have been as critical as anyone about this regime, and that's what I'm doing.

Are we going to beat OSU? We probably have a small chance. It's not great, but it exists. That aside, this is a great team.

Why not?  That's what most do, and did, about the 2011 victory over OSU.  The boneheaded no headphones wearing Brady Hoke beat OSU because OSU also had a guy who should never have been and never should be a head coach.  In their eyes it disqualifies that win in the Pantheon of The Game.

LMAO at the fools posting negative comments. This is a quality PSU team that will surprise MSU on the road.  Harbaugh did good.  Now - need to beat OSU.  Can’t lose to both rivals in one year.
