Should Indiana Have Slowed Down?

Submitted by WoodleyIsBeast on
Thought about this last night during their 4th quarter drive. Why not run the clock out and kick the field goal for the win? Their kicker was hitting everything, and it clearly wasn't hard to run for a first down. I know you typically go for the TD, but I was thinking I'd just slow it down, even prior to their TD. Anyone else think about that?

Seems to go against the natural instincts of any football player. Not sure as a coach you can ask a kid to do that either especially not in Indiana's situation where the players have no reason to have huge confidence in themselves or the staff.

I don't think Indiana can slow down, just as Michigan under Hoke could not speed up without the offense getting out of rhythm and discombobulated(yes, yes I know it was like that all the time but it seemed worse when they tried to speed up). Same with Indiana slowing down to do game theory just may take your offense out of rhythm and it's better to score points and take the ball down the field than to not do that. If you're kind of a one trick pony(as I think Indiana is), you can't try to pull off a different trick.
