Exactly.  Last year's OL class showed a couple OTs with a ton of potential but who likely needed a bit to get there.  The fact that as RS frosh they are both (almost) where we need them to be is very encouraging for the future.  Especially considering the highest upside guys in the class after them are likely interior guys (Rumler, Jones, maybe Carpenter).

It's HIPAA, and although technically that would apply here, it's not exactly uncommon for football coaches to report on the injuries of their players.  I've never heard a HIPAA violation coming out of a football injury report.

As a type this, I don't even believe HIPAA would be applicable because Ed Warriner isn't a healthcare provider.  If Steuber's doctor went on a podcast and discussed it (without Andrew's consent) HIPAA would apply but that's not what's happening here.

I'm conflicted!!  I want to up vote for the good information, but want to neg for the somewhat bad news.

Ugh...

But umbig11 will always get up votes from me.  Anyway, I really hope Dwumfour gets 100% healthy, I'd like to see what he can do over an entire year.  Same with DPJ - can he just please get a break where he's not injured, and not the only WR on the field?

I second that. That used to be an injury I used to roll my eyes at (when an athlete had it and couldn’t play). Not anymore. Side note—Birkenstocks fixed mine. Also on that underrated injury list:

Anything rib/oblique-related. I cracked a single rib and it was agony when I took a deep breath, sneezed, coughed, or laughed.

Anything with the big toe—I’ve had that along with a break. The big toe is the point guard of the foot—you don’t want that guy out or even in foul trouble.

Tennis elbow. Not sure how I got it—I don’t even play tennis. But I think I was exposed to second-hand tennis at the park. Regardless, it sucked.

Second this question. Seems like Harbaughs spring comments about these two weren’t as far off as we thought. If we are talking about 6 month + injury recoveries these were either much more serious than we thought or are nagging/reaggravation type injuries that could be really problematic for them this season. Hope they can get back to full go - after watching Gary try to play through those shoulder injuries the last couple seasons, I wouldn’t want them going unless they’re feeling 100%

If Steuber is 6 weeks, that's great news.  Two weeks of camp and a bye early, he'll miss 3 games.  Have him back for the last 8 games of the season, that would be excellent.

I second the Dwumfour question above - if that's from last year, not great.  DPJ take your time, we can also get him back for the last 8 games and be fine.

Some dude on one of the pay sites said Dwumfor’s injury is an upper body injury, so in theory most or all of the 25% injured from the “he’s at 75%” line is related to that & not last years injury.

However, I don’t recall if the person who said that was a known reliable insider type person or not. So take it for what it’s worth.

Neither of those injuries worry too much, provided that 6 week timeline is accurate (or close to it).  Steuber was either not going to start anyway or Mayfield is essentially as good and we have a lot of WRs to get the ball to.  It also really helps that the first few weeks of the season doesn't have many difficult games.

Now - if we see other injuries at those same positions between now and then those 2 are 100%, that's a different story. Bottom line is we need our guys healthy for the second half of the season.

My expectations/hype for DPJ have come down a lot in the past week, based on this comment and a couple others like it talking about his health. It doesn't sound like he'll be 100% at any point in the season.

I think he's arguably the most talented of the top 3 receivers when healthy, but now we really need Black to stay healthy and continue ascending.

I guess the silver lining is this may increase the chances of DPJ returning next year. In an ideal world, he comes back next year fully healthy and puts up crazy numbers to put himself into 1st round pick territory.
