Seth Trimble to UNC
Title says it all.

Predictible. /shrug
The only question is whether the staff had an idea he was going carolina blue when they took Dug's commitment.
I’m going to say yea. Seth brother played at unc for multiple years. I’m sure it’s been a dream of his to follow suit and our staff probably had an inkling. Funny how everyone is disappointed with dug given in many years past he would he the headliner recruit being in the top 75.
Dug’s size will become an issue. That’s why. Having a larger, athletic PG is a premium.
Just like Mike Smith running the point last year and Simpson running it before that. It just won’t work. We would never, say, win the B10 outright and earn a 1 seed in the tournament with a short PG.
I think we ended up on the "short" end of that stick.
As a UNC hoops fan, I just want to point out that they have 3 titles under Roy with smallish PGs.
Ray Felton
TY Lawson
Joel Berry
All under 6 ft tall. Now they were all super talented, but championships can be won with smaller PGs. I understand their supporting casts were great as well, but just wanted to point out that just bc UM has had undersized PGs does not mean they cant win a title.
Also, had no idea Seth's brother was JP Tokoto until recently. Though Melo Trimble was his brother or cousin.
who knows, maybe dug will grow a couple inches his senior year. i know i did.
Dug committed on the 17th
Trimble apparently committed to UNC staff on his visit on the 18th
Is it possible that Trimble was always a UNC lean? Maybe. But the timing is suspect and with insiders saying Michigan was leading for Trimble, it tends to make me think Dug took his spot
Relative to the current roster Dug is an excellent addition. Dug is as at least as physically talented as Simpson and Smith with just as high of an IQ for the game-this is why Juwan likes him. If Devante Jones stays with the Maize and Blue the '21-'22 team is going to be outstanding. Collins and Bufkin will have a year under their belt going into the following season-and there is now the trusty portal to mitigate any concerns. Furthermore-in this regard, it appears as though Juwan as no issue with employing more traditional PGs as well as more traditional centers-like Dickinson and Clingan.
The guard roster, projecting forward to the '23-'24 season sets up nicely to attract an elite PG. Here, per MattEM, Michigan is surely sitting in the catbird seat for Elmarko Jackson. Surely Juwan has this matter under very good control.
the portal may be turn out to be one of UM's best assets. i think juwan will be able to get the pick of the litter in any given year for a proven player for what the team needs. much tougher to get a freshmen to fill an immediate need.
I wouldn't say "predictable" per se. He wanted (allegedly) a Michigan offer BAD. So, my best guess, he went elsewhere after learning of Dug's commitment. But I like your theory, nonetheless.
Very predictable. See 'crooting rule #81 in the Offensive Line section; it applies here:

I wouldn't rule out Trimble's playing UM and Juwan off against UNC to maximize his payout. High level prospects, if they are playing for bag, need to make the most of their commitment value. Don't think that coaches can't sniff that out, too.
This is lazy speculation at best and character assassination at worst. Trimble is a good prospect but he's not a top-10, 5* with his pick of every blueblood or G League Ignite. It's far more likely that the coaches informed he and Dug that they had one PG spot and the first to commit would get it.
We all know that if a guy commits to any school besides Michigan, they are after "the bag." If they commit to Michigan, though, they are in it for the right reasons and are pure of heart.
With his brother, a former Tarheel, accompanying him on the trips, it’s a no brainer he would go to NC.
not particularly surprised.
Bradley, Trimble and McDaniel was the order of visits...so the dominoes were set up; it was just a question of which would fall first.
Dug is a guy the staff has been following a long time and it is rumored that Juwan was very much in Dug's corner, ahead of Seth, so when Dug wanted to commit, Michigan was going to take it and not slow play him.
Seth has a chance to be really good; not 100% sure if he's a) a true PG or more of a 2 guard and b) not going to stay longer than 2 years.
Dug will be at least a 3 year player imo.
Happy with Dug though and I think its a good fit for Michigan
At least a 3 year player? He is only a 3 year player here if he ends up transferring otherwise he's a 5 year player.
This is correct - dude is 5'8" (general consensus), Zavier Simpson makes him look short! Sadly, the NBA is not in his future. Maybe Europe, but even that's a stretch...
the bevvy of NBA players 5'9" or shorter disagree. If you're good enough you'll play
That "bevvy" of players counts to 25 over the entire course of NBA history. However, there are currently a couple of guys playing at 5'9", so it's not as out of the question as I suspected. But most of the shorter fellow's played more than 20 years ago, many of them were 50 years or further back.
In any case, if he's good enough to get a shot, then I hope he makes it.
I'm pretty sure Dug would win a dunking contest. The question here is how well Dug's shooting comes along. If he can progress to the mid 30s from deep and to the 70s from the line he will become a weapon instead of just an accessary-and I believe he holds promise here.
I always saw Trimble as an undersized 2, just never saw him as a lead guard that could distribute or run P&R effectively.
On that note, I wonder where Bradley ends up? It was supposedly down UM/UNC for him as well. Maybe the pro/G League route now?
I thought Kentucky was the leading school for Bradley. Don't remember UNC being in the picture.
Actually, you are somewhat correct. UK is in the picture, but so is UNC. His CBs are 50/50 UNC and Kentucky, so maybe he just drops for UK now.
It kind of seemed like the writing was on the wall for this after Dug committed. Either way it sounds like Michigan got the guy it wanted, and UNC probably got the guy it wanted. So everyone won.
Not a big surprise.
Best wishes Trimble! Here’s to Dug being Sharife Cooper 2.0!!
Yep, this one felt inevitable. Looking forward to seeing Dug get going out there.
