"SEC Football Addict" YouTube Prediction on Michigan v Georgia

Submitted by Chaco on December 18th, 2021 at 12:24 PM

Can't tell if it is a troll, a UGA hater, or a legitimate prediction but they predict a Michigan win for 6 reasons:

- Michigan has #4 ranked scoring defense

- Michigan has superior special teams (#1 v #25)

- Michigan has a better QB + UGA has only faced 1 competent passing team (Bama)

- Michigan's explosive play ability - 10 (!) different players combined for 17 50+ yard plays

- Michigan is peaking at the right time - have won last 3 games 142-48 (2 of the games vs ranked opp)

- Michigan an overall better team

....not to be a kool-aid drinker but he makes some valid points

Yeah but they have Davis who essentially can just sit down and close off the right side of the line. I mean he is the best defensive player in the country and all. I hope that Georgia’s players and coaches take us as lightly as the fans are. That punch in the mouth is gonna hurt extra bad if that’s the case.

I actually think Georgia's linebacker Nakobe Dean or Alabama's edge player Will Anderson are way better.  Jordan Davis is a mammoth mountain of a player, but he tires out easily, and has to sit out after 3-4 plays in a row.  Alabama locked him on the field and he was GASSED, which nullified any impact he had.  This would be the perfect game to go slightly up tempo and just force him to run around the field all day.

I can’t say if Georgia’s players or staff are underestimating Michigan. I would think they aren’t after being served a hefty helping of humbleness two weeks ago, but I live down in Atlanta and I can safely say the media here aren’t even giving Michigan a chance.

A question came up on the radio about who was a better QB between Cade or Stetson Bennett, and the question couldn’t even be finished before the radio hosts starting laughing at the question and declaring Stetson to be absolutely better. I mean…he may be, but the two times in his Georgia career where you asked him to put the team on his back and win a big game (both against Alabama), he failed miserably. He’s looked good because you’ve never had to ask him to do anything other than manage the game against grossly overmatched opponents. The same argument can be made for Cade as well about just managing the game, but I just didn’t see how that all translated to Stetson being that much better.

I guess because SEC or whatever…..

Cade is a monster. He doesnt put up ridiculous stats because that's not the kind of offense Michigan is running.

There has only been a handful of times, and none of them lately, where cade hasnt been able to answer the call through the air. A recent interview with one of the players (cant remember who) had the player saying that people were saying Michigan couldn't throw and he said they were just kinda like, "we knew we could throw, it's just that nobody was making us throw".

He's a first year starter, a RS sophomore, and his number 1 receiver went down causing a complete restructuring of the pass offense through the first part of the season, on top of that they actively didnt pass the ball because it just wasnt necessary.

If the offense was playing all season the way that it is now Michigan would have a much higher offensive ranking and people would have a lot more respect for cade.

Agreed. Cade isn’t putting up monster numbers but he’s answered the bell pretty much every time he’s been asked to and makes critical throws in critical moments. Especially ever since the MSU game. He also clearly does not let the game get too big for him.

Does he make mistakes? Sure, and he likely can’t afford to make more than maybe 1-2 against Georgia’s defense. It will be far and away the most talented defense he’s seen all year, and possibly the best altogether depending on how you stack them up to Wisconsin. But he knows how to brush off a bad throw, get right back up on the horse and drive his team down the field on the next series. He compartmentalizes his mistakes extremely well, and does not let one mistake become two.

I’m not sure the same can be said for Bennett, based off what we’ve seen so far.

Hopefully the attitudes expressed by those radio hosts permeate every facet of Georgia's preparation for this matchup.

Catching them napping is an important part of the optimal playoff scenario for Michigan.

The other key is for Cinci to pull off a close, hard fought victory over Alabama, preferably after 2 or 3 OT periods.

Last I checked Jordan Davis was a complete non-factor against Alabama. Against the same Alabama OL that couldn’t protect Bryce Young to save its collective life against a bad Auburn team a week earlier. Not saying the guy isn’t really good, but he feasted on a very, very weak schedule leading right up to Alabama. The best team they played beyond Alabama was who? 8-4 Arkansas? A very meh Clemson team? I guess Kentucky? They got punched in the mouth and their ass kicked nine ways to Sunday by the one truly good team they played this year.

Dealing with Jordan Davis is going to be an issue for sure. But him being able to “close off the right side of the line” is far from a foregone conclusion. And I think you can make an argument that the best defensive player in the country will be lining up on the opposite side of the field from Jordan Davis that night. Michigan has a potential #1 overall pick in Aidan.

I also think our offense has tools to neutralize him the way other offenses can't.  Because we pull so many linemen, we aren't always blocking him straight up.  He's going to get Wham blocked, cut blocked, and optioned off of.

I can't wait to see him try and come up field only to be T-boned by Erick All.

Best defensive player? Who plays half the snap? Can we call DE best QB because he threw the bomb one time? Davis is a good player but no way he is the best defensive player. We have one who may be the best defensive player. About Davis sitting there and we can't run there? Michigan is going to run on that side in the 4th quarter.

The guy that narrates this starts out by showing a doctored video of Harbaugh speaking towards a camera and proceeds to do a first-person voiceover narrative?

I shut it down after suffering thru the first 90 seconds of him droning on and on.

I am so ready for the game.

I am in Nashville today for the Bille Strings concert tonight and they just cancelled the Tennessee - Memphis game due to Covid.  They also just cancelled the Billy Strings concert :/.

Nick Saban will have Alabama bringing their A+ game in the playoffs.

Cincinnati struggled with half the AAC teams they played, even with South Florida who has the 102nd ranked offense. It was a 10 point game in the 4th qtr after South Florida had a 98 yard drive. I just don't think Cincinnati should have been chosen to be in the playoffs. Ohio St would have been a better choice. Utah an even better choice. But too many loses for both. Cincinnati is undefeated. So...

It's been a weird year. Alabama not looking dominant in many games, and lost to a not-dominant A & M and barely eked out a win against Auburn. Ohio State lost at home to Oregon who then lost to an unranked Stanford.  Clemson struggled. Hard to make predictions when there are so many anomalies this year.

The Michigan offense is fucking ridiculous.

First of all they WILL run, a trio of NFL backs who are a big play threat on every single play either inside or outside, and a veteran o line that can run it just about every different way a team can run a football.

All of that means you absolutely HAVE to allocate resources to stopping the run.

But then right behind that is McNamara and a group of wr's, tight ends, and running backs who can all catch the football, at all three levels of depth both left and right. Near every one of these players can make one handed circus catches, run crisp routes, and they are all excellent at blocking downfield. Michigan can and WILL throw deep.

Because this offense can execute such a variety of plays they can wrinkle the shit out of their offense. Every wrinkle is available because every level of the field is available.

On top of that every now and then we'll just throw in this cluster fuck of weird players that includes a backup QB who might be the best QB in the stadium that day, and you never know what the fuck is coming out of it but they run it well and apart from one bad timed fumble it has been ridiculously effective. JJ is as serious a threat to rip off a run as he is to throw an nfl level pass, and he can run the normal offense, even more shit to respect.

Michigan is one of the most well rounded offenses that I've ever seen and I dont think people understand how ridiculous it is that they've basically just taken what's been given to them because you quite literally cant scheme enough ways to stop them.
