Off-season Wagerin’ - What Happens At Michigan First?
Off-season but not off-topic - Seems like there is an awful lot of Michigan related stuff on hold these days. The University doesn’t have a President. The baseball team doesn’t have a coach and technically, neither does the hockey team. Recruiting certainly seems like it’s on hold. How about a little game of What Comes First?
In each of your opinions list in order going soonest to furthest in time the following:
- The University gets a new President
- The Michigan baseball team gets a new coach
- The Michigan hockey team gets a coach under an actual signed contract (not specifying who the coach is unless you want bonus points)
- Michigan Football gets a 5* commitment
- Juwan picks up another basketball commitment for 2023 or later.
- Michigan Football gets a Top 100 commitment
- Jim Harbaugh names a starting QB

OTOH, in a better-case scenario, 6 could happen first and then 4 could independently happen later.

Harbaugh naming a QB will be last and Michigan Football getting a top 100 recruit will be 1st.
Michigan gets a top 200 pick. The AD never seems to have its ducks in order, so I can't really say who or when a new baseball or hockey coach will be picked and signed.. Without having a good money cannon NIL for recruits, we will probably never get another 5 star recruit. Juwan may pick up a big name for the 2024 recruiting cycle. Odds are is that the new president will be somebody who does not like college sports.

Here's my thought as someone who doesn't live in Michigan and only follows football and basketball.

A new president can take a year easily whereas baseball will need a coach soon. I don't follow Hockey and assume the verbiage you used "actual signed contract" means there's more to it than just naming a coach, but I'd think they need to get a coach sooner rather than later. I do think we will get a 5 star commit before season start, and wouldn't be surprised if we get another BB commit. Seems like people on here think we have a commit happening Friday, but I do know we will probably get a Top 100 commit during the BBQ. Starting QB will happen just before season starts.
If a quarterback commits at the Barbeque at the Big House, would that make him a BBQ QB?
