Saturday Noon Game Thread

Submitted by alum96 on

Not much out there on the slate that pops out - probably the most interesting game is Maryland at Indiana but it has a weird time slot at 1:30 PM.  If Tenn is improved their game vs Georgia might be worth a whirl

Wyoming visits Spartans

South Florida vs Wiscy

Tulane v Rutgers

Tennessee v Georgia

Northwestern v PSU

Iowa v Purdue

Vandy v Kentucky

That's a dumb midseason move. I hate that motivational tactic anyway.

But all this is going to do is draw attention to why names were on the jerseys to begin with...and why would you want to draw attention to that?

However, even if there was no scandal tied to it...is taking a name off a jersey really going to change something? If it's just a matter or preference, then cool...I'm with it. But if it's doing because someone isn't playing hard enough, then it's stupid.

lol, if after 2-3 good games they "get their names back"...like it actually had some affect on the situation.

Corso is such a fool saying Michigan is only gonna win 4 games.

Northwestern just went straight down the field against Penn State.

On the road. Northwestern who lost to NIU. And is 1-9 against FBS teams in their last 10.

Big Ten.

Connor Cook can sling it.  Just threw a TD in a tight window that Stafford would miss half the time. A year ago at this time he looked horrid-not sure I can remember a QB make such a transformation in 12 months.

Wait, NU beating PSU in Happy Valley?

Where are the guys wringing their hands over the fact that Michigan "missed out on Franklin," the guys that already handed him the B10Championship.  Despite the fact that Hackenburg had more INT's then TD this season thus far (4 TD's and 5 INT's) they keep slobbing all over the kid.

NU about to score again.

Woe is me, if we only could have hired Franklin, he would have everything going in the right direction.

What a joke!

Sparty looking like a well oiled machine on offense.  On D though they did give up a long TD run that was funny as two Sparty defenders tackled each other.

Wyoming is better than Miami OH?

Again with the people crownign Sparty for beating bad teams.  When 3 of your 4 non conference games are against cupcakes and in the other you get run the field its not impressive.

FSU beating OK St. and Georgia beating Clemson.  Those are good non-conference performances.  What MSU is doing is not impressive.

Sadly, before IU's win over Mizzou that was the conference's best OOC performance.

I agree that MSU hasn't really played anyone close to competitive save for Oregon obviously, and even now Wyoming has shown more fight than anyone expected even with the lopsided score.

If I were an NU guy I'd be a bit ticked by the fake call that early in the game.  You're up 14-0, on the road and have held PSU to no 1st downs.  Kick and go up by three scores, betting on the fact that sooner or later Hackenburg is going to get it going.  If it's on the ensuing drive, you might only be 14-7 with PSU starting to "feel it."  Obviously, if it works, he's a genuis ... but still, take the points and play defense.

Michigan State is good. They remind me of watching pre-RR Michigan. When you play a cupcake, it should be big run after big run, followed by nice, easy PA passes... Drives that cover 80 yards in 8 or fewer plays.

No shit!

So sick of hearing Michigan fans whine and gush over Sparty.  They're better than us because they've been patient and stuck with a coaching staff who didn't WOW MSU when they first came in.  Michigan fans are starting to really sound pathetic!

I don't recall any of Dantonio's early teams being so thoroughly outclassed like Michigan has been already twice this year.  And in his fourth year, he won a B1G co-championship.  This is Hoke'd fourth year.

And your point?

Michigan has just as much of a chance to win the B10C as anyone else does right now.  You're assuming a lot.  I know a lot of MSU guys that were ready to run Dantonio and Narduzzi out of town.

No you're not.  You're making a pathetically pessimistic assumtion.  You're entitled to do so should you choose, but I think it's laughable.  Overcoming adversity and maintaining a positive attitude is very important in life -- but maybe they're not teaching these skills anymore now that we have Twitter and SnapChat.
