Saturday Noon Game Thread
This is an awful slate of games - I am mostly watching West Virginia v Maryland. OSU v Kent State is really the only other one of any basic interest.
I thought this line on WVA v Maryland was strange (3) when they held in very well versus Alabama and Maryland looked like... well a Big 10 team, thus far. West Virginia's WRs were awful vs Bama - if they could catch the ball they might have won the game. If this was in Morgantown I'd take WVA by 17 or so.
Sounds like Maryland has benched its QB and is on QB #2. Not sure those NFL WRs at Maryland are going to have a chance to showcase their wares this year the way things are going.

ECU up on VT early.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:22 PM ^
...and WVA's WRs continue to suck.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:23 PM ^
E. Carolina is currently taking Virginia Tech to the woodshed.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:23 PM ^
ECU always gives VT trouble. You'd think Bud would have this team figured out.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:23 PM ^
OSU already up 14-0.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:24 PM ^
That hit Boise St put on UConn's RB was perfect! Decleating fumble that got returned for a TD.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:24 PM ^
Barrett is taking a lot of shots. Wasn't the offensive line supposed to be an issue for Ohio? I guess that's coaching and development
September 13th, 2014 at 12:28 PM ^
CJ Brown overthrows a Maryland WR wide open that would have been a walk in TD.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:28 PM ^
This looks like a home game for West Virginia. Couches will be burned in College Park today
September 13th, 2014 at 12:29 PM ^
OSU still looks like it's abundantly beatable against a team that isn't Kent State.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:29 PM ^
Maryland leaving plays all over the field. Brown missed a wide open TD pass and then a receiver drops a first down pass that may have let him continue running. This is the team that could be dangerous if they ever put it together for a team. I bet they have one big upset this year.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:33 PM ^
It would be fair to say that Maryland is settling into its role of a Big Ten team rather well so far - C.J. Brown dropped back about one Orlovsky (this is a measurement I think needs to be a formal measurement for QBs) and threw a complete pass back to the LOS, thus completing the drive which looked good but didn't go much of anywhere in reality.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:33 PM ^
Vandy down 14-0 to Umass. The bottom off the SEC looks as bad if not worse as any of the major conferences.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:34 PM ^
Any body else see West Virginia / Maryland on the B1G network and wonder for a moment why they were on it?
September 13th, 2014 at 12:34 PM ^
Is Vancy the worst team from a major college conference? Wow, they suck.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:36 PM ^
Maryland is big 10 ready.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:38 PM ^
Looks like they've been reading their press clippings. East Carolina came to play.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:39 PM ^
If VaTech goes down today, the Buckeye scheudenfraude would only get better.

I'm OK with that
September 13th, 2014 at 12:43 PM ^
The ACC better turn it around or this is going to be an ugly week for them. Uconn losing to Boise St. (wouldn't be a bad loss), Pitt down 9-0 to FIU, and Syracuse trailing CMU.
September 13th, 2014 at 1:06 PM ^
UConn is in the AAC, not the ACC, but yeah, not a great start to the day for the ACC, UConn just sucks.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:44 PM ^
ECU 21, VT 0
September 13th, 2014 at 12:48 PM ^
VT is making ECU look more like USC. Yikes. There's plenty of time, but wow, this would be big for ECU.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:44 PM ^
Welp....Maryland represeting the conference well. A truly welcome addition.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:46 PM ^
Syracuse at CMU, too. It's on ESPN News. Tied 3-3 at the start of the second.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:46 PM ^
Annonucers piss me off. The play is over once the ball crosses the plane, not when his knee is down. If they want to make the argument about completing the catch then fine. But his knee being down after the ball crosses the plane does not matter.

Is it 3:30 yet?.... Geesh today's slate feels like an opening weekend. Lots of intriguing match-ups if both teams were at traditional levels (i.e. Okla vs Tenn, UCLA vs Tex, etc..).... But damn I'm pounding coffee and powering through these blowouts to get to the UM game which may make me cry or not... At least we don't have Utah this weekend...
September 13th, 2014 at 12:47 PM ^
ECU up 21 in the first against VA Tech in Blacksburg? If they can pull this off, that OSU's loss to the Hokies at home is really going to bite them in the ass.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:48 PM ^
No Rawls for Central? That's too bad for him. These kind of games would be great for him to show what he can do against a decent(ish) team.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:49 PM ^
OMG what in the world is Maryland wearing? They already had the worst uniforms in football. There is no need to try to make them worse.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:50 PM ^
They are literally wearing the national anthem
September 13th, 2014 at 12:51 PM ^
ROFL... that is a good one +1
September 13th, 2014 at 12:57 PM ^
no, seriously... that's what they're wearing.
September 13th, 2014 at 1:13 PM ^
So he literally meant literally rofl.... Well +1 to Maryland for creativity I guess.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:50 PM ^
I thought these early games might be boring, but there are some upsets going early. Which means a string of inevitable comebacks later when the underdogs start feeling the pressure.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:51 PM ^
Whoa Scott Loeffler sighting. I guess I'd forgotten he was OC for VT?
September 13th, 2014 at 1:02 PM ^
To show how big of an "upset" that VaTech v. Ohio game was
September 13th, 2014 at 12:51 PM ^
Currently watching the Jimmy V ESPN 30 for 30. It's better than all the football on right now.
Go Blue!
September 13th, 2014 at 12:51 PM ^
So
ECU >>>> VT, then,
ECU >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> OSU, wow, who would have thought....
September 13th, 2014 at 12:54 PM ^
The trasnsitive property does not apply in sports....unless it pertains to a rival.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:55 PM ^
Someone please explain to me why adding Maryland to the conference was a good idea.
Oh wait. The whole conference sucks anyway. So they're a perfect fit. Never mind.

Aaaaand VA Tech is getting killed. Honestly it's like watching osu lose all over again.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:59 PM ^
That's a good thing, right?
September 13th, 2014 at 12:58 PM ^
At this point, I just want the B1G to look as BIG TEEEEEENNN as possible.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:58 PM ^
OSU's D line must have serious problems aside from too much molly. ECU is blowing up VT's Oline nearly every play. OSU didn't come close to doing that.
September 13th, 2014 at 12:59 PM ^
Sure as hell glad we don't have to see East Carolina. These guys have receivers for days and they're killing the man press coverage.
September 13th, 2014 at 1:00 PM ^
Best game on right now may be UVA Louisville. UVA just picked off the cards for first and 10 on the 15.
September 13th, 2014 at 1:07 PM ^
C.J. Brown has already found six recievers (seven if you count Daryl Worley, who happens to be a Mountaineer), so if you put aside the lack of ultimate productivity so far, he is fairly adept at hitting targets. West Virginia's pass defense has some signature Tony Gibson in it so far, though they have held Maryland to 2 FGs.
September 13th, 2014 at 1:08 PM ^
Different team every week. VA Tech is showing that. Michigan can still go 10-2. That is why I didn't panick after last week.

I agree with this for the most part but if you think that last week was just one week for the the Michigan football program you haven't been paying attention the past few seasons.
