Saturday Night What are You Drinking/Doing Thread

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

Despite the b-ball team getting beat and the particularly ugly end to the hockey team's regular season, it is nevertheless Saturday night and spring is indeed in the air, with St. Patty's day just a few days away.  So, what're you drinking and what is up with your weekend?

just took burgers off the grill, our own grass-fed beef about which i am a bit snobby.  a glass of merlot and the kids are watching a 50's disney movie, 'johnny tremaine' about the revolutionary war.

and you....?

Anchorage Darkest Hour Barrel-aged stout 22oz (13%) and now onto Listermann Cincinnatus Barrel-aged stout 12oz (10%).  Looking forward to drinking some Founders CBS on St. Patty's day (along w/ KBS and Breakfast stout).  Going to be a long day...

I have a couple of babies in the house; that means I'm wiping asses and taking names. Nothing goes better with that than an Old-fashioned.

Opened a 2012 Deschutes Abyss that I had in the cellar. Great beer that is going nicely with some live My Morning Jacket. Speaking of My Morning Jacket, I'm pretty stoked that my wife and I were able to get tickets to their Georgia Theatre show in May. The venue only holds about 1k and it sold out in seconds. Should be a great show!

Just got home from visiting my family out in the 'burbs, might head out here in a few, but I'm kind of dreading going to a bar having seen the drunken state of the city on my way out and back earlier today. Got some cheapo Trader Joe's blended whiskey going until then.

Watching UNC-ND, what a game. Drinking Sixpoint Hi-Res and, believe it or not, crimping cat6 Ethernet cable. Almost done wiring the house. I'm too damn old, have to use a magnifying glass.

Its a drunken disaster outside in Chicago. Normally I'd be out celebrating, but I hit it too hard last night and don't have it in me to do it again. So I'm at my apartment drinking coors light and sake, and watching the imitation game.

st. pat's day was barn-burner.  i remember starting at dooley's @ 0600 hrs and pounding all day long.

now, it doesn't even cross the radar to go out and hit the town.  do they still turn the chicago river green, or does it do that on it's own?

I am just hanging out with some Sierra Nevada Pale Ale after watching North Carolina gag and flame out down the stretch in the ACC championship game. Indeed, ND jut won so between this an MSU winning, drinking this evening has not been under the most pleasant of circumstances. I suppose I will plod on somehow, right after this six-pack is gone.

thank you for your kind words. i still have no idea how my posts under 'quiverfull' started to be invisible to most of the mgobloggers.  thus i switched names around thanksgiving when i realized the problem.   some wizard of smart on this blog i'm sure could figure it out but its not worth the hassle.

what studying and what hoops game(s) caught your attention?  sounds like that UNC v. ND game was a good one, assuming you weren't a tar heel fan.

Took off the top of my thumb and a chunk of fingernail with the potato peeler ... that's what I get for making squash fries on St. Patty's day I guess.

I'm re-living my college days . . . unfortunately not the fun part.  The cramming part instead.

I just woke up from a power nap, had coffee, and now plan to burn down on an old fashion midnight special, getting in a weeks worth of training tonight that is overdue.

After that, I'll go hit the bars . . . Ha!  Who am I kidding?  I'll probably fall asleep in my chair.
