Softball DHer for the girl today. Gonna be a hot one! Elim rounds tomorrow AM.
Only the second tourney of the season. I can't handle the nerves of watching the girl play. Usually I'm coaching so there's other stuff to worry about but she's filling in for a different team that needed a P so I'll actually just sit and watch for the 1st time in a while. Pace and watch is more likely.
They’re letting you DH? Depending on the age bracket, it’s either unfair to the other team or to you.
Remember those days of my daughter playing in softball tourneys and melting in the heat like days like today. I coached and spent time as a parent watching. Liked just watching better as I could get up and walk away if I got too nervous Enjoy and stay cool
10am in Cincinnati and it's 83 degrees but feels like 90. Going to try to get a little Vitamin D before noon!
Drinking? Crazy man, WATER. lol
or maybe some Kool Aid...
Random, but fruit punch Body Armor tastes like red Kool-Aid...it's delicious.
Fishing right now
Here lies the body of Mary Lee, died at the age of a hundred and three, for fifteen years she kept her virginity, not a bad record for this vicinity.
The pork butt I started smoking yesterday is now wrapped in the cooler resting. Pulled it off the smoker once the IT hit 202 degrees after a 13 hour cook. It's going to make some killer pulled pork sammies and carnitas later today.
I don’t smoke meat so I’m wondering is it typical to go to 200+ degrees when smoking?
I wouldn’t ever cook pork to over 155 normally.
After 155 or so the meat really does nothing after that point and it would be pasteurized...although dry to the bone. It's at about 200 degrees when all the little connective tissues are finished releasing their collagen jelly or "flavor moisture" that renders into the meat making it pull-able, moist & delicious.
I'm smoking a Boston Butt this weekend as well with applewood and cherry pellets in my Pit Boss.
Another MGoSmoker here. Yes roughly 202 degrees for pork and 204 for brisket is where the otherwise chewy, leathery connective tissue becomes the magical flavor and tenderness that make smoked BBQ what it is. Pull it off too early and you’re left with really chewy, and grainy textured brisket.
Loosen up your throwing arm and launch some of that goodness to me in Indiana!
Wicked storm rolling through Traverse City where I am vacationing. Going to be hot and humid as hell once this blows through in the next hour. I love the hot weather and this summer has been nonstop even up north! May put a damper on wine tasting somewhat.
Heading to the lake! Going to hammer some Miller Lites and a few Blue Moons! Go Blue!
Went smallmouth fishing this morning and will be drinking lots of water until later. Stopped by the local meat market and picked up a bunch of different brats/sausages for the grill later.
Got up at 6 and did all my chores. Trying to decide whether to have brats for lunch or go small business and get a curbside burger from this awesome burger place by me. Either way, Angry Orchard has a new variety that has some pulp and reduced the sweetness. When you’re allergic to wheat, malt, barley, and rye, it’s a lifesaver.
jumped off tractor and high-tailed it for cover with the nasty weather rolling through up north. is dark almost like dusk outside, hope this goes away and a normal saturday ensues....
It's hard to imagine you hiding from anything XM. I figured you'd be more like this guy
exactly like that guy, except old, fat, don't live near houses or even a paved road, and not a lot of hair....
kidding aside, riding on top of an 8,000 lb piece of steel, towing another piece of steel, in an open field, is just asking to have God prove that metal conducts electricity. i may be dumb, but i'm not stupid.
Must be a real cute toy tractor.
If the tires are taller than you, is that still toy sized?
I've gone outside to watch every storm for as long as I can remember. When I was in middle school I stood on the back deck, completely transfixed on the green sky and very low clouds. It was very windy and raining large drops. I ignored the air raid sirens and kept watching.
Then I noticed the clouds above me spinning. It was amazing.
F1 tornado touched down 1/4 mile away a few minutes later. I'm fairly certain that's what I was looking at.
Once my kids are grown I'm taking a tornado chasing vacation.
i am so not surprised by this.
It's gonna be a scorcher. I've got some Stone Tangerine Express and Scorpion Bowl IPA ready and willing to serve for the cause.
But with my complexion, I can't afford to stay outside very long. Will have to hunker down in the cold, dark basement with a John Wick marathon.
It’s the gf’s birthday so it’s her choices that I’m making for dinner.
fried chicken, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, and fried pickles.
Drinking margaritas and dom ruinart to celebrate.
should be a fun night!
Spears or chips?
Thick chips.
Nicki Minaj chips.
Installing an auxillary fuel tank on the truck. Ice tea for now. Will be headed to Costco in a bit to grab some beef short ribs to grill Korean BBQ later. Debating on whether to drink ice cold beer later because it's so hot or stick to whisk(e)y.
please describe the size of the aux tank and what type of rig you are hooking it up to. is it going in a pick-up truck bed or down in the undercarriage? have thought of this for one or more of our rigs but haven't made the jump..yet.
It's for the spare tire well under my bed. Should pretty much double the current capacity of the truck without eating into my bed space which I need. It's just wasted space under there since I run 37 inch tires on the truck and a full size spare won't fit there.
Titan is the manufacturer, 30 gallons.
Ty. Is this the rig you'll be driving here to pick up your cow portion?
Yes it is. If it means I don't have to stop in Ohio for fuel, it's worth every penny.
i forgot to mention my genuine appreciation of the big tires. fits with the hillbilly logo. nice.
Would be good to install an auxillary Korean grandma on the truck also if you are planning galbi (Korean BBQ). Required for the true next level K BBQ.
Good thinking. I have room on the roof rack for one.
Sounds very Mad Max.
I've run low a few times out in the middle of nowhere, so it's good to know I'll have reserves. I also boondock with my brother-in-law who tows with a diesel SUV, so it's good to have extra in case he runs out. Our last trip to Montana he had a leak in his fuel line. We're planning a trip to Alaska in two years so this will help.
Replacing sump pump, yard work. Labbat's in celebration.
Still in Sedona, laying by the pool before my wife and I Attend energy classes. I fully subscribed to the energy of the land and love the calming state of mind.
Enjoy the day, make someone smile and Go Blue
I love this weather. Been working in the yard all day and now I'm getting ready to have some buddies over to my deck for a beer sampling party. Got a Jolly Pumpkin lineup for them to try. I know one buddy will bring over some super strong beers, so we should all be good and sloshed by the time the IndyCar race starts tonight. Vroom vroom party starter!
Grilling 12 bacon wrapped filet mignon's and making a bearnaise sauce to accompany. Also making shrimp scampi to go over linguine. Starting off with a chopped bleu cheese / pecan salad
What time should I drop by for dinner?
Got the outdoor stuff done before 10am today. Getting humid enough that you might be able to swim through the air. I was watering with the hose and both of my terriers were biting at the water stream and getting wet. Proof it’s hot, because that’s not something our Scottie usually does. The Norwich always wants to be sprayed with the hose.
Having some friends over for Happy Hour libations: gin and tonics, mojitos, and an Italian Collins recipe I got from our favorite local Italian restaurant. Some goodies to nibble on made by the wife and we’ll beat the heat for a while. Looks like burgers for dinner.
Picked up a six pack of Old Milwaukee beer for $3.29. Sometimes cheap beer really hits the spot.
Made myself some iced tea by steeping holy basil and fresh grated ginger, then adding fresh lime juice and honey. Needed more basil, but otherwise, it was darn tasty.
It looks like it may rain here in suburban Chicago so staying inside to avoid the humidity. Went to the beach yesterday and enjoyed a dip in Lake Michigan.
Drinking Crystal Light pomegranate green tea now. Switching to Molson Canadian when I fire up the grill. Porterhouse steaks and potatoes Geri on the grill with a salad. Larceny Barrel Proof for dessert ??.
GO BLUE!!!!
Now seems like a good time to crack open a frosty cold Miller Lite or two.
