Saturday's over/under

Submitted by Trust the Process on

Per cbssports.com, the over/under is set at 45 points. Also interesting to note that the line is down slightly to UM +9.5.

I'll take the under in this one.

The O/U last week was 43 and I would have definitely taken the under there. The total ended up being 47.

That said, the under will probably be the correct call if Michigan can pull off the win.

Call me crazy but i think we win this game. Im not impressed with PSU. I think we can contain their offense. And i think we ride higdon for a huge win

I don’t think Michigan is the kind of team that could consistently hang with the #2 team in the country, but I also don’t think PSU is the #2 team in the country. They haven’t impressed me thus far, save Saquan Barkley. They’re a good team, and the best team we’ve played so far, but they aren’t as unbeatable as people on here seem to think.

I agree, PSU is not a #2 team in the country, Barkley is the #2 team in the country. Slow down Barkley  (because there is really no way to stop him) and they become an average team. Michigan by 3 and the under is my call.

I think Higdon was a 1 or 2 time guy, like evans was last year. Have to rely on all 4 of UM's backs (including Walker in that count) and our skill players on running plays and punt returns because they cant rely on a QB to get the ball to them.

The 9.5 doesn’t mean much Vegas gave them 10.5 vs us, Michigan have a huge fan base has prolly pushed it down to 9.5. As a betting man I wouldn’t touch this game, it does have the making of an upset because PSU could be looking forward to next weeks game vs Ohio st.

1. It would have taken a whole lot of money movement for this to cross the 10 point barrier.

2. Most neutral people are betting this like it will be a PSU blowout, plus PSU isn't exactly a small fanbase themselves.

This looks like reverse line movement to me, which favors a closer game than the spread would otherwise indicate.

Condescending, do you even know what that means!? Yes, I know how lines work, and RLM is a real thing. Most gamblers (aka ‘the public’) place bets on a specific team (PSU), while few, usually professional gamblers, bet large sums of money on the other team (Michigan) so that the sum of money bet on Michigan outweighs the sum of money bet on PSU, even if 75% or more of the total bets are placed in favor of PSU.

My post was to never say Michigan will win the game, I just said I wouldn’t bet on this game. There are some factors, like the Indiana game, Michigan didn’t want to use that shovel pass that play was planned for somebody else but a close game caused them to use it, I highly doubt the PSU staff sees this game as a pull out all stops game, they will try to win and move on save the playbook for OSU

So UM was saving the shovel play, but was forced to use it? Maybe you haven't paid attention, but Harbaugh pulls out plays like that against everybody. And you think PSU would hold something back? You know more than most people could dream about football.

Not if Michigan punches them in the mouth. They can't let Michigan ruin their season (and not payback last years ass kicking) and forfeit the Big Ten street cred they'd get by losing to them at home in national prime time. If they get down or were keeping it close or tied deep into the game, they'll break the glass.

It opened at 12.5 on most Vegas books or at least 11.5. Looking ahead? GameDay in town for a night game and revenge against the most venerable team in the league. The idea they would overlook UM is flat out insane. Finally, the PSU fan base bets up the line as much as UM. You have two HUGE fanbases. This isn't UM fans moving the line against Purdue. You so crazy.

I'll take the wolverines over the nittany lions. There is no biological basis for a "Nittany lion" and it's embarrassing because a wolverine would destroy a typical Pennsylvanian mountain lion as they are known for being soft and prey strictly on cubs.  To call any of the seven hills surrounding "Happy" Valley "mountains" is also embarrassing. Plus way too many satellite campuses. Plus James Franklin. Plus their stadium looks like a 10 year old assembled an erector set football stadium from a southeast Asian knock-off brand with plastics guaranteed to cause cancer. White outs can't erase your history Jersey brosephs and sheep fuckers.

People making fun of the ghastly aesthetic of Beaver Stadium is like my bat signal. Shit looks like a toddler got frustrated with a K'nex set and just glued it all together.

That's probably right where you want to be as an underdog. If the teams pay attention, it's enough to be encouraging to us that we can win yet enough to make psu overlook things and think it'll be a straightforward win for them.

has not lost a game by more than 4 points.  I am certain that his defense will at least put us in a position where we can win the game.  Whether we do or not is a different story.

I would take Michigan with 9.5 points.

I could make a narrative for a close win for us, then and a blowout win for them. Makes the line interesting, but the potential for a blowout in their favor makes me hesitant to touch this line. Okorn interceptions against msu didn’t really lead to points against msu but similar ones likely would against psu. You have to imagine they will score a few times at least via Barkley (breaks a long one, or hb wheel while isolated on mcray), crossing rub/route to TE, jump ball in end zone to one of their WRs. They are coming off a bye and probably have repped trick plays like Barkley throw etc. should be a interesting game but think our offense is going to hold us back at the end.

Notably, the o/u this past week was 45.5. I don’t bet but I told many a friend that this was like requesting free money if you take the under. That held completely true until some explosive plays in the 4th qtr (Higdon’s big TD and IU’s pint return). Still, it took Higdon’s TD in OT to hit the over.

and Michigan has gone under 4 in a row, if one doesn't count overtime (the 7 OT points moved the U-M @ Indiana game from being an "under" to an "over").

PSU's 1 "over" was the 56-0 over Georgia State.  O/U there was 54.  So a garbage-time TD decided that one.

Take that FWIW, but I'm kind of surprised the over/under has actually gone up since its initial posting.

We also know John O'Korn can play lights out (Purdue) or deer in the headlights (MSU).

From observing certain things, you can see O'Korn has a somewhat fragile ego. Not ideal for a quarterback.

But he's no quitter. If he gets on a roll he has the skills to beat anyone in the B1G.
