Santa Ono Tweet from the Big House
Looks like he has already created a new account for his UM job. This was his second tweet.
Wendy and I can’t wait to hang out with Wolverine fans and watch @CoachJim4UM and @UMichFootball in the Big House this fall! #GoBlue pic.twitter.com/ksk76ih7NH

Santa is *in* the building.
We're gonna have to build a chimney at the Big House so he can get in.
As a college football fan, he probably couldn't wait to get into the Big House and soak it all in. I'm sure he wanted to check out the view from his suite pretty early on in his campus tour!
Dude is seriously fired up to lead a University with a major athletic program.
How cool is that.
But, if he's in his luxury suite, he can't crowdsurf. Just sayin.
Loved Barb McQuade in the replies telling him to watch from the student section
He'll sit with the students and bring his own marshmallows.
And, toilet paper rolls.
🧑🏽🎄🏈 Finally - a president who gets it!!
This is a smart man who knows how to win over the largest, and perhaps wealthiest, alumni base in the world.
Ding, ding.
My first reaction was that this is a great picture. Kudos to the photographer.
I had the same first thought - the photo is great.
My second thought was that it is also great to have a President who is apparently this excited to be part of a major Division I athletics environment.
sky above the big house looks mesmerizing. I’m excited about the new President. Its July 15th and his wife is wearing a sweater. Is it cold up there?
welcome to the big house!
EDIT - poorly executed and bigoted joke by MGoUser redacted. Yikes - LSA
FOH. Always refreshing to see yet more examples of walking colostomy bags who don't think twice about anti-Asian racism.
He's a Boss. Standing on the concourse like a Master and Commander on the quarterdeck of a great ship. (I've been listening to too much Patrick O'Brian audiobooks...)
I'm crestfallen at his lack of bowtie.
This gives me hope for the future!
I live in Cincinnati and he was well-liked by everyone when he was President at UC. This was a great hire and I think he'll be a wonderful asset for Michigan.
I'm at UC and can confirm that he was very well-liked by faculty and students (no direct knowledge of the AD). His schtick could get a tiny bit cornball, and so I wonder if the blue bloods will tire of his antics; however, judging from his behavior in the past two days, it seems like maybe he gets that he has to be a bit more staid at UM.
Overall, I think it's a great hire for UM. Go Blue!
A solid hire - but I hope he isn’t more staid at all! Fuck the stupid unnecessary stuffiness.
Definitely nice to have a President actively excited about athletics again. Nice change from the apathy and disdain Schlissel showed
I don't have a Twitter account. He is making me rethink that stance. Love his enthusiasm.
No. Don’t rethink that stance. Twitter is a cesspool
Agreed. Never read the comments on twitter, it is toxic. Good for getting breaking news, horrible for any real discussion.
A friend of mine described going on Twitter as swimming in the pool that you know everyone peed in.
Just search for him on Twitter if you need. No need to actually make an account. It’s awful.
Twitter and social media in general is a cancerous toxic wasteland. Never had a Twitter account and never plan to in my life. Hell, I even deleted my Reddit account and the app a few weeks ago because even though there are some really cool subreddits to follow, it’s way too easy to get sucked into current events subreddits and once you start doom scrolling, it really starts affecting your state of mind that day. Got rid of it and I’m all the better for it.
You can google his Twitter account and run through his feed specifically if you’d like.
Setting aside all other issues and just looking at this through the lens of our sports teams, this is the type of leader that we want running our university during times of constant change and chaos. This is someone who will look to benefit the big athletic programs in every possible way, whether through NIL, transfer portal requirement easing, etc., as opposed to Schlissel who so obviously could not care less about our sports programs.
This new President is going to be the biggest plus that Michigan Football has had in a long time. We have a great coach, a good AD (although a little soft and overly political IMHO), and now a President that instead of belittling athletics will be a supporter. This is huge!
This is awesome. I'm really excited for his tenure.
I'm already diggin' the vibe Santa is bringing
Me thinks he does great things for UM Athletics. Something we have not seen in a very long time. Amazing the Board approved him. They must have been sleeping the day of the vote.
I get the feeling that he is going to be popular with the students, and hopefully the professors. He appears young and approachable, based on the articles.
Finally, a school president who gets it. Who doesn’t look at athletics as just some nuisance they have to deal with.
I know he’s absolutely got other priorities with his job and his primary obligation is to protect the overall reputation of the university, especially the academic side. But I’m just happy to see we’ll finally have a president who gives the athletics it’s due consideration.
I really appreciate him acknowledging that athletics is important at UM. Academic types who pretend that they’ve never heard we have a football program or whatever really just don’t get it done for me. Sorry if it’s beneath them, but it’s a part of our school’s identity.
I wonder where Santa will be tailgating on home game Saturdays…
He's a cellist whose already made multiple mentions of the various musical things going on on campus. My bet is he'll be at Revelli for at least the opener.
I already love this guy! Finally, a president who isn't an academic snob and realizes what great exposure sports can bring to a school in addition to outstanding academics.
Next stop Frankenmuth!
That scenic backdrop is nice. Reminds me, although it's been a few years since I've been out there, that the Big House is always better than people think. It's a famous landmark, sure. But the energy with a full stadium takes people by surprise, and the venue always beats expectations imo. Always a good time, whether in the heat of an early season game or a snowy late season game.
Harbaugh has not tweeted since September of 2020!
so can we get a Hello post from Brian?
