As a college football fan, he probably couldn't wait to get into the Big House and soak it all in.  I'm sure he wanted to check out the view from his suite pretty early on in his campus tour!

I'm at UC and can confirm that he was very well-liked by faculty and students (no direct knowledge of the AD). His schtick could get a tiny bit cornball, and so I wonder if the blue bloods will tire of his antics; however, judging from his behavior in the past two days, it seems like maybe he gets that he has to be a bit more staid at UM.

Overall, I think it's a great hire for UM. Go Blue!

Twitter and social media in general is a cancerous toxic wasteland. Never had a Twitter account and never plan to in my life. Hell, I even deleted my Reddit account and the app a few weeks ago because even though there are some really cool subreddits to follow, it’s way too easy to get sucked into current events subreddits and once you start doom scrolling, it really starts affecting your state of mind that day. Got rid of it and I’m all the better for it.

You can google his Twitter account and run through his feed specifically if you’d like.

Setting aside all other issues and just looking at this through the lens of our sports teams, this is the type of leader that we want running our university during times of constant change and chaos. This is someone who will look to benefit the big athletic programs in every possible way, whether through NIL, transfer portal requirement easing, etc., as opposed to Schlissel who so obviously could not care less about our sports programs.

This new President is going to be the biggest plus that Michigan Football has had in a long time.  We have a great coach, a good AD (although a little soft and overly political IMHO), and now a President that instead of belittling athletics will be a supporter.   This is huge!

Me thinks he does great things for UM Athletics.  Something we have not seen in a very long time.  Amazing the Board approved him.  They must have been sleeping the day of the vote.

I get the feeling that he is going to be popular with the students, and hopefully the professors. He appears young and approachable, based on the articles.

Finally, a school president who gets it. Who doesn’t look at athletics as just some nuisance they have to deal with.

I know he’s absolutely got other priorities with his job and his primary obligation is to protect the overall reputation of the university, especially the academic side. But I’m just happy to see we’ll finally have a president who gives the athletics it’s due consideration.

I really appreciate him acknowledging that athletics is important at UM. Academic types who pretend that they’ve never heard we have a football program or whatever really just don’t get it done for me. Sorry if it’s beneath them, but it’s a part of our school’s identity.

I already love this guy! Finally, a president who isn't an academic snob and realizes what great exposure sports can bring to a school in addition to outstanding academics.

That scenic backdrop is nice. Reminds me, although it's been a few years since I've been out there, that the Big House is always better than people think. It's a famous landmark, sure. But the energy with a full stadium takes people by surprise, and the venue always beats expectations imo. Always a good time, whether in the heat of an early season game or a snowy late season game.
