When Alabama got picked for the CFP, Finebaum said he was happy for his wife because she's from Alabama. But he was sad for himself because if Alabama and the entire SEC got left out of the CFP, it would be his greatest show ever.

He is about himself and whatever gets a reaction.

He loves that he is hated in the Big Ten.  He loves that we know who he is and care what he says.  That is why he trolls us.  It's a business decision.

I’ve never listened to or watched the daily Pete Finebaum show, but maybe he wanted some legitimately good content on the game?  I know that some of the better Michigan podcasts I listen to (The Michigan Man, The Wolverine) offer opposing points of view.  MGoBlog is still the best, but I do enjoy opposing points of view.

Outright hack. Had a regional football talk show that got picked up by regional ESPN, as I understand it. Gained some notoriety teasing crazy Alabama fans on air. Got some thick glasses and the rest is history. Seizes on whatever strand of whatever he can and works to fan it into heat, compel ears and eyeballs. Seized on Jim Harbaugh to fan some North-South antagonism, embraced him for a minute when Jim started to succeed, seized the Stalions story to fan the hate with hack/pal Heather Sandwich once again.

Low-level trickster. In any healthy traditional community, they'd make him live way on the edge of town. To his marginal credit, he always seems amused that anyone takes him seriously.

Finebaum was pretty gracious.  Finebaum is a chameleon who says what his overlords at ESPN tell him to, but he acted like a gentleman in this interview at least.  Sam did a great job, as always.

Paul is where he is in football media because he knows — and has long known — it's theatre and entertainment. He crafts opinions to generate the biggest reactions, now on a national rather than regional stage. It's not a personal or heartfelt thing. There's no reason to get worked up over it or fulminate against it because that's exactly what we wants you to do.

I watched a couple minutes of his show yesterday. Some caller from Georgia was complaining about his “hanus” and encouraging the listeners to get a colonoscopy. I’m not sure what that has to do with football, but it’s good advice.

I don't know if what's on TV is simulcast from satellite radio, but he seems to be familiar with most of his callers. Almost like their calling in to talk to an old family friend about anything and nothing at the same time. A lot of them sound like talking to Pete is the highlight of their week.

I know I'll probably get tossed to Bolivia for this, but I don't mind listening to Pete talk about college football with his callers. He's been called a Saban hater for years in the part of the South I frequent. I absolutely loathe the ESPN version of him that carries the SEC water on national TV.

Off Campus needs Mark back. I don't mind Jacob Hester (former LSU RB) as he's pretty much the main guy who runs the show. But Bobby Carpenter is tough to listen to. I seriously think he's doing the show while lifting weights. Then again, he does have an early morning show in CBus, so maybe he's kinda checked out by 3PM.

Finebaum is a two-faced idiot!  When talking to a Michigan writer he talks respectful towards Michigan, but when talking about Michigan on his show by himself, he wants the NCAA to strip Michigan from a title if they win it.

I think even Pete Finebaum is recognizing that not only does this Michigan team have a different level of confidence going into this game, but so do our fans!

My work got out at 2 today and I didn’t know that was happening. Small victories. So I got home in the afternoon and randomly put on Finebaums show. I’ve seen it maybe two other times bc I strongly dislike him. But it was fascinating watching a blue screen with the name and location of every caller. 90% were criminally under-educated but I’m not into politics. Either way I can’t imagine Sam had a good time on that show but glad he did what he did.

His schtick works when he’s talking to Bo from Gasden but when he’s on the line with someone who knows significantly more about Michigan and its coach….crickets from Pete.  It showed what a pandering phony that little twatface is.  He didn’t even try to debate Sam about any of the anti-harbaugh crud he’s been piping on about day after day after day.  Friggin pandering clown

Well done, Sam!

Finebaum looks like the kid who was always picked last at recess and hit with the dodgeball first, how can anyone take him seriously about sports he never played?

I really don't like the "cheating" narrative Sam was pushing. Cheating isn't illegal; everyone does it. The actual advantages of in-person advance scouting through grainy iphone footage is minimal, probably nothing at all--certainly nothing compared to having signals handed to you by other football staffs, which Michigan has shown actually occurred.
