Ryan Mallett - Mannequin for Arkansas' latest episode of fashion suicide
Like most college football teams, Arkansas has decided to enter the fray of schools that just can't seem to resist screwing with a good thing. Their new Razorback uniforms for 2010 as modeled by quarterback Ryan Mallett. Arkansas' standard school colors are supposed to be cardinal and white. But it's 2010 and fashion suicide wouldn't be complete without introducing something, anything, that is black. How about facemasks? Yeah, that'll do nicely.
Those who embed will be champions.
Have you ever seen a picture of his grandfather?
Lurch has a better haircut though...
...a more appealing demeanor

If you let Nike have their way, you will soon find your favorite team taking the field in uniforms designed by Brian Boitano. Switching to Adidas was clearly a blessing.
$15 uniforms you find at street corner tents. The small numbers and the little Arkansas across the front looks very cookie cutter. Basically looks like they had a template from a pee-wee team and said hey we hvae some new uniforms if you want 'em.
What's wrong with those jerseys?
Clearly he'd rock the color scheme of cardinal, white and black.
the jersey's are ok. The helmets can go fall on a knife though.
Those pants are brutal. Razorbacks on the thigh?
Looks like the Arizona Cardinals. BFBS (black for black's sake, for those of you not up on Uni Watch lingo) is always stupid.
OTOH, can't be much worse than last year:
it looks like those jerseys have the handwarming pouch sewn onto the front, hoodie style. i guess this gets rid of the large fanny pack thing, which can't be bad.
all else though - blargh
is it me or are they much more RED than before too? they seemed to be more maroon before
I don't know, that kinda just looks like the outline of his pad sticking out.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure they don't need handwarmers in Arkansas.
the black facemask looks awful
They didn't have traditional ones last year, so changing them isn't that big of a deal (though I wish they kept the same red). I mean, I guess their colors don't officially include black, but many teams pick up a third color, usually white if it isn't already part of the colors, but typically black if white is already one of your two primary colors. I personally think black and red does look pretty good together. I'm not saying these jerseys are the best, or even that it puts them in my top 10 college football jerseys (obviously Michigan home is number 1), but I think it's probably above par. And I really don't love or hate the face mask, I think it's fine either way.
I did prefer their traditional ones better though. Darren McFadden looked pretty scary running in those
I agree with this. I think they're a little too flashy, but nothing terrible.
Has always seemed like such a boar to me. Just replace the tusk with a Nike swoosh and you are all set.
If I had more swine, I would have totally missed that one.
There was nothing wrong with the Arkansas stuff to begin with. All of this ridiculous reinventing-the-wheel, fixing-what-ain't-broke is just a cynical way for athletic departments to goose the sales of jerseys, hats, towels, mini-helmets, and all the other crap that's sold. I guess there's some MBA telling them that old, tried-and-true uni designs result in stagnant apparel sales, and the way to improve things is to pay some idiot designer to come up with new ways to make their players look silly so all the sheeplike fans feel they have to rush out and get the new stuff.
I really hope Brandon resists the urge to foist similarly dumb crap on Michigan players and fans. I would agree with those who think that the Penn State and Alabama unis are boring as hell, but I love the fact that they refuse to knuckle under to the foofs in the marketing depts that are undoubtedly telling them to "modernize" things. In this case, boring is good.
Dear Don,
Your seat in the air conditioned luxury box with a view of the HD scoreboard and newly installed field turf is waiting for you after you are done pissing in a "not trough."
Sincerely,
Modernizing "idiot designers"
is so four years ago.
