Ryan Day met Zinter's parents to console them in tunnel after he was carted off the field

This may have already been discussed in another thread and I just missed it (a LOT of threads since yesterday afternoon for some reason 🤔).  Either way, for all the (rightful and well-earned) ire directed at Ryan Day from our fanbase, this is still good to see.

I personally don't think OSU coaches have animosity towards our players. JJ had something nice to say about OSU players. These are still kids and young men they are dealing with. Nice to see Day reaching out.

That can be true. What is also true is that he is insipid piece of trash who is so arrogant as to claim that the only reason he could possibly lose is that the opponents cheated. Mr. We're A Tough Team couldn't be more Third Base if he tried.

We should never forget nor forgive the inherently obvious involvement of Ryan Day and Ohio State in the coordinated PR attack on the University of Michigan these past six weeks that ultimately got them on the precipice of exactly what they wanted (No Harbaugh for The Game).

That it didn't quite work out the way they thought it would is simply sublime and confirming of a world view of Buckeyes that is ceaselessly supported by their own actions. They thought they got Michigan, what they got was an all on the table and no excuses whatsoever showdown where Day has nothing for an excuse, he has to look in the mirror and know he got his ass kicked on the field. Again.

I agree with this assessment. He's a bitch. Bitches speak to the manager when they don't get their way instead of working to change. Bitches bitch at the refs instead of coaching their team. Bitches also recognize when they need to do the "right thing" with their tail between their legs.

Body language says it all. Also Sherrone Moore is 7 years younger than Cryin Day.

I agree that what he did was 'nice', and that viewed from a neutral to a sympathetic to osu viewpoint, his actions could even be called...'classy'. I'll put forth an alternate hypothesis: the guy that allegedly launched an investigation of questionable legal means that fueled an allegedly PR smear campaign, knows something about appearances and took advantage of being on the sideline where the tunnel is, and did what every coach in America would be expected to do, and console the parents.

No while I think this is more inline with his actions, I also have to say I don't think he is sociopathic and doesn't genuinely feel fornpeople in the moment, but he is still the same guy that will use any means to achieve what is expected of him. To all that, I'll politely nod in approval for his actions in the moment, but he retains all the distrust he's brought to the rivalry.

Tl/Dr- Day did and didn't do what is expected of him, still a dipwad, osu still sucks.

Fuck Ryan Day.  This makes me even more upset that coach Harbaugh was not there to support his player and family in that moment - which I believe he is directly responsible for.  I wish the cart ran over his foot.

No doubt. This is the toxicity I hate. Day has occasionally said some unfortunate things, but damn, I'm sure he's a decent guy. Same with Urban Meyer, who said some genuinely respectful and positive things about the Michigan team after the game yesterday.

Damn. I like beating them as much as the next Michigan fan. Maybe more. But the sanctimony and over-the-top emotion on this message board too often goes way too far.

He is but he did the right thing, no matter how obvious and compelled it was for him to do so.

Believe it or not, somethings are bigger than this rivalry and gestures like this go a long way to showing solidarity for every player who takes the field for both sides. Devin Gardner’s on-field gesture also comes to mind.

If some things are bigger than this rivalry then maybe not run with this "BIGGEST SCANDAL IN THE HISTORY OF THE BIG TEN" to get a coach suspended so he couldn't be with an injured player and his parents because that hyperbole kind of rankles when this is the conference that gave us Sandusky, Nassar, Anderson, and Strauss.

Day is apparently OK, if by inaction, with trampling all over thousands of abuse victims to get his way, but he gave Zinter's parents a pat on the head so we're totes cool with him now?

No, he’s still an asshat as mentioned above and won’t be forgiven for all the rabble rabble about the signs but it’s ok to acknowledge an honest show of sportsmanship especially after losing The Game.

Again, he’s still a douche but he did the decent thing when he didn’t have to.

Honestly, the kids have shown each other a ton of respect that last couple years.  It is the opposite of the MSU game which had been getting ugly.  I found myself really appreciating some of the OSU kids. I don't ever want to see Marvin Harrison Jr. again.   I looked at their 2021 recruiting class and it was loaded.  I will be glad to see most of those kids heading to the NFL.  It is so impressive that we somehow figured out how to beat them three years in a row.

Yeah. I was at the game yesterday and it really didn't feel toxic between the fanbases or the opposing players. The teams both played hard between the whistles, but I observed real respectful behavior outside of that too. I saw an OSU player hand a towel back to a Michigan player after the play was over, the OSU team being respectful of Zinter's injury, and I saw the OSU defense shake hands with our offense even as the game deciding Moore interception was being reviewed.

Similarly, I didn't see vitriol directed at players from either fanbase (or really even at other fans). The refs got a lot of very well earned boos and FUs, but even when OSU did impressive things (mostly various MHJR circus catches), the vibe was just like "damn that's annoying but also amazing."

Meh, there was quite a bit of pushing and shoving as there always is, it's just both teams aren't taught to cheap shot like MSU is.

And I'm not sure I've ever seen as much vitriol from the stands as I have the last two games against them. But probably two of the loudest crowds I've ever experienced as well. Reminds me of what the Horseshoe was once known for minus the physical violence.
