Ryan Day brags about winning a fight with Tommy Eichenberg that was nearly a fist fight (according to tough guy Ryan)

Submitted by Indy Pete - Go Blue on November 19th, 2023 at 1:28 PM

“Tommy was ready to play in this one, and I had to pull him back. And it was almost a fist fight. But I won,” Day said about his decision to hold him out.

Ryan is TOUGH 💪🏼- just ask him!  And his beard is DARK 🧔🏻‍♂️!

The power asymmetry between a head coach and a player is about as stark as any formal relationships in our society.  But Ryan sees his victory in this near fist fight as worthy of a victory announcement.  Wow, Ryan, wow.

I live in Ohio and it is interesting that most of the people I have talked to about The Game are not real optimistic because of Ryan Day. They all like him but think he will do something to overthink something which will ultimately cost them the game. This guy is doomed if he loses on Saturday. Go Blue!

That's reassuring to hear because after the Harbaugh suspension I have not been too optimistic about our chances.

I think we have the better team, and we're at home, but something about not having Harbaugh on the sidelines really worries me. Not sure Sherrone is up to the task and being HC and calling plays is not an easy thing to do.

Halftime adjustments have been huge for us the past few years, and not sure how much of that is Harbaugh but I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Not trying to be Debbie Downer here, but I was at like 98% that we'd win before the suspension, now I'm at like 50%. OSU won't come into this game like they have the last two years - just assuming they'll roll over us like usual - they will actually be prepared for once.

I'm standing on the ledge right next to you, but ...

I try to remember:

-The entire coaching staff has been working on this gameplan all year

-Harbs is there like normal, all week. I'm sure they try to make sure the week is as normal as possible for the players

-Day reeks of a guy who's trying too hard. Feels like he could crack at any moment. Can't be a good place to be mentally when the game starts

Also live in Ohio. Everyone was calling for his head during the 3rd Qtr of the ND game, and during the 2nd half of last year's game with us. If they lose to us on Saturday the whole state will have a nervous break down, call us cheaters, and want Day fired.  Count on it.

Half of men in this state base their manhood on the success of the Buckeyes and Browns/Bengals.

OP buried the lede because immediately after claiming he "won" the almost fist fight, he says:

“I'll be honest, it took some late-night texts last night"

Now, this is just me, but I fight most of my fist fights via text. I'm sure Ryan Day has been declining Khabib's invitation for an epic return fight for years (via text).

Heaven forbid should they actually win next Saturday, Day and the fanbase will be insufferable about how tough they are. He would be going off the rails in the postgame interview about it

I don’t like Day either but this seems fine.  There’s no reason to think he meant they literally almost fought.  Just that he’s the coach and ultimately he decides what happens so he “won”

Kind of a clickbait-y title and worthless post TBH…

He is saying that a player really wanted to play and it took a lot to convince them to sit out for the player’s own good.
