This is the thread for snowflakes regarding the overall performance of the coaches.

Same.

The Harpologists are a talking Mattel doll.  You pull the string in the back, let it go, and you'll hear a Harpologist say one of the following:

"It was the spot"

"It's the refs"

"It's our academicz"

"Online U (even though Michigan has online classes too)"

"COVID was a bad year becuase we didn't get camp"

So…to be clear. MSU won in OT against a 2-2 team and there W was a work of art.  UM won 20-13 against a 3 & 0 team and the sky is falling? Perspective is nice. MSU opponents to this point 7-9. UM opponents to date 10-6. Realize there are kinks to work out, but damn man. Chill

At the end of the first half, Harbaugh clearly wanted one more shot at a TD, but Gattis couldn’t call an effing play in time and they have to blow the last timeout, one play after McNamara missed a wide open receiver in the end zone.

Early in the 3rd, 4th and short and Harbaugh again made the call to go for it, but his OC couldn’t figure out what to call on 4th and half a yard.

McNamara was off today. Gattis seemed shell-shocked and unable to figure out how to adjust to what Rutgers did with their ends and inside push.

No screens, no QB keeps, no end arounds, nothing. Gattis is what he is.

I know so many of us here think, “Good play=Gattis, Bad play=Harbaugh.” Right now, nothing would please me more than a Harbaugh takeover of the offense.

The guy with a track record of success gets blamed for bad plays and the 30 something who’s done shit in 3 years gets a pass.

Who's going to be the next coach here then?

Who is going to take us to a level we have never been?  Now that we are out of a covid year Campbell looks like an idiot with all the talent he has and multiple losses already..

All the people wanting a coaching change aren't suggesting anyone who could actually come in and make a damn bit of difference..

What if we hire an offensive genius, then he has a defensive coach that is an embarrassment?  Most of you bitch and cry but have no one better to replace Harbaugh with and if we fire Harbaugh who would even want the job

This continuing argument is misguided and uninformed. There are people out there, even running under the radar, who can be excellent HCs. This is as much an AD issue as anything. Jim may, indeed, be able to do the job here  but he clearly needs assistance of some order to keep him on track-something that is not currently in place.

Hire Greg Schiano.  I can't imagine how much better our program would have been over the last decade + had he taken the job when Lloyd retired.  Incredible what he has done with Rutgers in such a short period of time.  With the talent they have, his team passes the eye test.  Solid D, dynamic offense, great fundamentals.  Hell of a coach.

Well we hired a supposed offensive genius and QB whisperer that looks like an idiot so....

How about stop being scared of the unknown and maybe realize there's somebody else out there smart enough to realize not to slam into a stacked box over and over and can probably win one game as an underdog in seven years.

We give names all the time and the excuse is either "He wont come here" or "well his record is mediocre", well no shit, theyre coaching at a school with less resources than Michigan, who is already mediocre to okay at best with who they have!

switch26,

for everyone who asks “who is gonna take us farther?”

did you assume Jim Tressell was going to step right in at Ohio State, from Youngstown State, and take them to a National Championship? Did you look at his career arc and go, “he’ll definitely own a coach like Carr who has already won it all and done great against OSU!”

If Harbaugh’s family and career were Ohio State instead of Michigan, and he was their incredible hire in 2015 instead of Michigan’s: when do you think they would have fired him? When do you think they would have demoted Don Brown?

Ohio State will continue to dump 10 win-but-not enough championship coaches like Cooper and Earl Bruce left and right. The result: the program’s championship success speaks for itself.

Of course it was marketing, but at the same time, what has Harbaugh done during his collegiate coaching career that suggests he wants to do anything offensively that is not centered around the philosophy of running the ball with the backs and rarely the QB and 'protecting the defense' by limiting snaps?

I am not inside the fort, so I have no idea what's going on.  But at the same time the Harbaugh tenure and this program have struggled with the same underlying issue for going on roughly 17 years: Michigan looks clueless against teams that least have a good enough defense to limit our running game because we have not been able to effectively throw the ball against good pass defenses or we refuse to use tempo or most modern passing concepts against teams with lesser talent that are totally selling out against the run because we double down on trying to shove the ball down their throat (Air Force 2017, Army 2019, Rutgers last night, etc).

Last night proved most of us right that felt Michigan should have been throwing the ball with our starters 25+ against Western and NIU.  Harbaugh has proved time and time again that we can shove the ball down the throat of equal or lesser talented teams he looks like one of the best coaches in the country.  However, when he can't, a train wreck happens.  Yet, when we get two total tomato cans at home, the coaches did not take the opportunity to work on things offensively  that have plagued this program for years.

I guess when it boils down to it, you and anyone else is going to need to decide if Drevno was a fraud, if Pep was a fraud or if Gattis is a fraud too.  Hey, maybe that's true.  If so, what does it say about a head coach hiring 3 frauds for offensive coordinator in a row?

The only thing last night proved to me was that we should've been running to the outside with Corum and jet sweeps until they stopped stacking the box. Yes, our QB got rattled or something, but this was indeed a game that could've easily been won by using the edge-running plays we know we have.

When Rich Rodriguez left West Virginia and Bill Stewart replaced him, a West Virginia booster said said that Michigan got the architect and we got the painter. While Rodriguez didn't pan out overall at Michigan, the offenses were creative and put up points. (The defense was another story).

I feel the same way about Joe Moorhead and Josh Gattis. Someone else got the architect and we got the painter.

Joe Moorhead is the brand new OC at Oregon and they already beat Ohio State.

Plus one to you. The changes made during last off season was an upgrade. Bottom line.....Jim Harbaugh cannot take this program to an elite level. I predicted 6-6 at the start of the season. I will stay with my 6-6 prediction. This program needs way more talent than is being brought in. This program is no better today than when Jim was hired.

Through his tenure Harbaugh has been a play to win against scrubs and a play to not lose against good teams. This has cost him his ability, his reputation, and likely millions of dollars. Can't win scared.

Harbaugh is a talented coach. Can’t look at his resume and not come to this conclusion. He also seems unbelievably stubborn.

Why you continue to run the ball up the middle over and over and over I don’t understand.  Can you not run a pitch outside?  Cade didn’t help with missing some automatic throws tonight.

Unless he isn’t showing certain plays, this team is gonna have its hands full in the middle and tail end of the schedule.
