Honestly, I'm starting to feel a bit bad for them. When they got whomped by Michigan I was enjoying it because it shut them up but getting their asses kicked 224-0 this season is just painful. It's bad for the players, it's bad for the students, and it's bad for the school. There is no upside to them being in this conference (except money maybe).

They need to leave the Big Ten for their own sakes.

(admittedly while playing Monopoly with my kids).

I feel kind of like the William Wallace comment from Braveheart:

Rutgers should lower it's flags and march straight back to Jersey, stopping at the home of every college football fan they pass and beg forgiveness for the embarrassment and ineptitude that their football program represents.  Do that and the BIg Ten big boys may let you score points one day.  Do it not, and you'll forever live with empty stands and "0"s on your scoreboard.

Are we missing something if we only view the admission of Rutgers and Maryland to the Big Ten Conference from the perspective of how poorly their respective football teams are performing?

Was there anything to be gained by adding two large, east-coast, flagship, state universities to the Big Ten Conference?  Was there any advantage to having the Big Ten Conference expand its footprint to the New York City and Washington, D. C. media markets?

Was the addition of Rutgers and Maryland more of a pre-emptive move to prevent the ACC from picking off Penn State and adding Rutgers in order to broaden that conference’s northern footprint and give the ACC links to all the major media markets on the east coast?

Are student-athletes from those east-coast media markets giving greater consideration to Big Ten Conference schools now that those media markets have an incentive to cover the Big Ten and Big Ten schools have road games at Rutgers and Maryland?

Has the Big Ten Network gained anything from entering the New York City and Washington, D. C. media markets?  Before the additions of Rutgers and Maryland to the Big Ten Conference, how much attention was the conference receiving in those media markets? Has there been more attention given to the conference in those media markets since Rutgers and Maryland were added?

In the end, could it be that, for all the criticism heaped on him, Jim Delany mght've made a wise move in adding Rutgers and Maryland?

Has the big ten lost anything financial or otherwise by separating Michigan, Ohio State and Michigan State from the original big ten and forcing them all to play Maryland and Rutgers every year instead of two of Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Northwestern and Purdue?

Empty stands quite a big contrast from "Striping the Birthplace." I wonder how many recruits showed up for that game. I appreciate the spirit of Rutgers trash talking Michigan (David/Goliath, Fencing Garden, etc), but at some point you have to back it up or else you just lose all credibility.

Which is 17 (!!!!!!!) more than the 2nd place team in that statistic (Syracuse).

They're still not good at it though.  They rank 125th out of 128 FBS teams in net punting.

I was shocked this game wasn't worse than 39-0.  PSU got in its own way a lot.  I took the gimme bet of PSU -26.  Betting against Rutgers this season has been some of the easiest money I've made.  How have they won two games?
