Rumor regarding Wilton Speight injury

Submitted by Borges_so_Beautiful on

A friend of a friend played with Speight in High School. According to him, Speight claims that he has a sprained AC joint and shoulder ligament and that he is week to week in terms of recovery timescale.

Unfortunately, communication was over text and not Counter Strike voice chat

Interesting. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Wilton pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

I had the same injury (basically) in HS and it took me a couple months to recover fully.

O'Korn has got to step up, I have no confidence in the lefty Mortis

I sprained my AC joint two weeks before the 2011 NFC Championship game and I couldn't play. "Play" loosely means reach my brew or dip a chip without scooching all the way forward or having to use my other hand. I don't see Speight cutting the mustard until at least Christmas. Mark these words.

How torn are the ligaments? Grade 1 is only partial in one joint and he could risk playing at OSU depending how he feels (i.e. can he practice effectively next week). Grade 2 is complete tear in one joint which could heal by the post-season but can't risk playing in regular season. Grade 3 is complete tear in both joints which typically requires surgery and out for the season.

Football players typically have surgery on a grade 3 separation to reduce risk of re-occurrence given shoulder hits are common in football. Agree, all other folks it is typically nonop with extended PT time. I don't think a grade 2 separation is week-to-week - trainer wouldn't clear a college kid to play with a completely ruptured AC joint. That could get ugly fast for the University.

weather was horrific - rain, sleet, wind - plus Henne had not recovered from his separated shoulder injury 3 weeks earlier. That was his throwing shoulder and only a grade 1 sprain, however, he played poorly (11 for 34) in a great deal of pain. Ball sailed all of the place. At one point he left the field and went to the locker room to get treatement, but that didn't really work. Mallet came in but was not prepared to take on OSU. Chris Wells romped that day on 39 carries for 230 yards. OSU 14 - UM 3

So....Basically no matter if he plays or not, OSU's strategy (more than likely) will be to stack the box, and let WS throw. Same with JOK..

Personally, I am ok with a pass dominate offense against OSU. The last time we went pass heavy against them was in 2013, when Devin Gardner had 450+ yards and 4 TD's.

And that sad sack of a team had a chance to beat them on a 2 pt conversion with seconds to go.

If a Brady Hoke team can compete with OSU, I am more than confident Jim Harbaugh can dust off the cobwebs of last years beating and formualte a winning gameplan. With Wilton, or not.
