Rumor Mill: Harbaugh eyes NFL
December 6th, 2020 at 10:33 AM ^
Nope I heard he got a 3 year extension
December 6th, 2020 at 10:35 AM ^
I love how people think balas is still an insider
December 6th, 2020 at 11:03 AM ^
Balas knows no more then any poster on any board. Neither does Spath or Borton. Take anything those guys say with a grain of salt
December 6th, 2020 at 11:10 AM ^
Per Twitter from Balas:
Michigan Football: New Jim Harbaugh To NFL Rumors Surface #GoBlue
Balas says, “This report comes despite folks close to it saying Harbaugh is "betting on himself" at U-M and eyeing a three-year extension, telling recruits he plans to turn it around. Staff changes would be likely if he were return, according to several sources.”.
HOLD UP! Didn’t Balas just tell us 3 year deal is done!?! Now he’s say “eyeing a 3 year extension”? Eyeing something and getting it are two different things. I got a feeling nobody knows nothing!
December 6th, 2020 at 11:12 AM ^
This is obviously just Harbaugh trying to negotiate up the value of the extension. Dude is a competitor.
Sarcasm?
December 6th, 2020 at 11:14 AM ^
Sounds like Balas is eyeing clicks.
December 6th, 2020 at 11:58 AM ^
For me, this sounds like a great way for Michigan to get a new HC and staff.
One can dream...
December 6th, 2020 at 1:30 PM ^
if he really wants to get clicks he should post that link promising sexy pictures of that Lily from at&t.
I learned that the hard way

To use, you know, the parlance of our time: That person who menstruates from the AT&T commercials, Holy Moses!
Shit, probably can't say holy or Moses anymore.
December 6th, 2020 at 11:10 AM ^
I love how people think Florio has ever been an insider.
December 6th, 2020 at 11:35 AM ^
FWIW Florio describes Harbaugh as "fiery, demanding & competitive" which tells me he hasn't actually watched a Michigan game since OSU in 2016.
December 6th, 2020 at 11:56 AM ^
The loss of that drive that we saw for the first two years is the most mysterious and disheartening thing about the Harbaugh era. I'm not sure I will ever understand it.
December 6th, 2020 at 12:26 PM ^
As I recall the conference told him to tone it down on the sidelines.
December 6th, 2020 at 1:14 PM ^
"Toning it down" would be going from a 9-10 to a 5 or 6 (scale from 1-10). He went down to almost nothing, like a 1 or 2. Gotta be something else happening here.
December 6th, 2020 at 2:41 PM ^
What a dumb take. The conference telling him to tone it down? What the heck leverage does the B10 have to get JH to tone it down? If someone told JH to tone it down after 2016, JH would have told them to “screw off, I’ll coach how I want to coach”
December 6th, 2020 at 11:01 PM ^
Unsportsmanlike conduct penalties?
December 7th, 2020 at 12:04 AM ^
It was the Pope. He hasn't been the same since he met the Pope
December 6th, 2020 at 11:30 AM ^
Isn’t a lot of the stuff on Rivals stemming yesterday stemming from a “in-the-know” poster on there and not necessarily Balas ?
December 6th, 2020 at 12:16 PM ^
Most people who claim to be "insiders" around UM are, in fact, making largely educated guesses based on message board traffic and a couple of low-level people willing to talk to them in order to feel important. I don't subscribe to the message boards but I've seen numerous times where something gets posted on 247 or Rivals and then a couple minutes later some guys tweet it out with the "sources" tag.
December 6th, 2020 at 12:28 PM ^
Right. People think it’s posted anywhere by anyone it’s a “report.”
December 6th, 2020 at 10:45 PM ^
I miss the insiders and Frasers pub
December 6th, 2020 at 2:17 PM ^
I love how people think an insider actually knows what's going on.
It's entirely possible that Harbaugh is talking with Warde Manuel about an extension while feeling out NFL offers. This wouldn't be that surprising, all things considered.
If so, an insider in the AD might think he's going to sign the extension. An insider for whichever NFL team he's talking to might think he's going to sign with them.
Adam Schefter famously tweeted that Harbaugh was coming to Michigan--right before he signed with the 49ers. Schefter is a reasonably good journalist, so *somebody* told him that--they just didn't actually know what Harbaugh was going to do.
December 6th, 2020 at 10:38 AM ^
God, I hope not. He has lost the team and shows no evidence that he can recover them.
December 6th, 2020 at 10:48 AM ^
Not to RIP the OP, but why is this post worthy. That article sites no credible source, or says anything we haven't heard since he left SF. Is it this? Per multiple sources, Harbaugh is believed to be eyeing a return to the NFL, as a head coach. I can't wait till this shit is over so we can go back to the "who will be Harbaughs assistants and D-Coordinator " posts.
December 6th, 2020 at 11:31 AM ^
For the same reason the 3 year extension was post worthy. Neither have sources, now the same guy who says he’s got a 3 year deal done says it’s in the works about 24 hours later.
December 6th, 2020 at 11:42 AM ^
This is what NASCAR calls the "Silly Season". Since there are no Michigan football games, what else is there to talk about?
Meantime, I'll just follow along and stay amused. It's like saying, it looks like rain tomorrow but the storm could also miss us and we'll have a nice day.
December 6th, 2020 at 1:12 PM ^
I appreciate the NASCAR reference, don't see a lot of those on this board!
December 6th, 2020 at 2:13 PM ^
Username checks out.
December 6th, 2020 at 1:39 PM ^
With luck there there won’t be a game next week as 3 consecutive blowouts are surely(Shirley) cause for termination.
December 6th, 2020 at 12:07 PM ^
Well, I think Florio has a lot more credibility than someone like Spath or a Gregggg Henson type. Then again, the NFL loves to give itself favorable rumors (remember when Harbaugh would never leave the NFL for disgusting college football?) so I'm taking all of these with a grain of salt. If I had to bet some money, I'd bet Harbaugh is in Ann Arbor again next year with at least the defensive staff wholly replaced
December 6th, 2020 at 1:10 PM ^
Florio seems to be throwing out a lot of generic speculation that can’t be proven or disproven. It’s safe journalism that gets us clicking.
The 3 year extension has gained steam because it seems like the most likely decision from our AD and president. We can’t have a lame duck coach and if they were going to fire him they already would have done it. My guess is they are waiting to announce til they know if the OSU game is going to be played or not.
December 6th, 2020 at 10:35 AM ^
Whatever happens, Go Blue. A pitty South Carolina beat us to Shane Beamer.
December 6th, 2020 at 12:14 PM ^
I'm also disappointed we didn't get
*checks notes*
...the tight end coach from Oklahoma?
Oklahoma has tight ends?
December 6th, 2020 at 11:10 AM ^
Moving on from elections disinformation to college football disinformation, eh Vlad?
December 6th, 2020 at 11:19 AM ^
His endgame is to steal, er, collect an entire set of SB rings as he was inspired by Bob Kraft
December 6th, 2020 at 10:36 AM ^
I saw him pass out at 31 Flavors last night.
December 6th, 2020 at 10:39 AM ^
Which 31 flavors???
December 6th, 2020 at 10:49 AM ^
In an effort to respect his privacy, I can’t really say. However, I’m pretty sure I saw his 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California in the parking lot.
December 6th, 2020 at 11:43 AM ^
Thank you, Samone
December 6th, 2020 at 11:45 AM ^
Kristy Swanson says that it sounds pretty serious.
December 6th, 2020 at 10:37 AM ^
He’ll stay in Ann Arbor to coach Michigan games in person after signing his three year extension while he coaches his NFL games via Zoom on Sundays.
December 6th, 2020 at 10:37 AM ^
Impressive that he has signed a three year extension but is actively looking for NFL jobs in the same week. Nothing beats the rumor mill.
December 6th, 2020 at 10:41 AM ^
Harbaugh can do both - coach Michigan on Saturday and the Lions on Sunday.
December 6th, 2020 at 12:13 PM ^
Not unless he's Brett Favre.
Sincerely,
John Madden
December 6th, 2020 at 10:42 AM ^
Respectfully disagree. My favorite mill is Bushmills.
December 6th, 2020 at 11:18 AM ^
Boo that's protestant whiskey
December 6th, 2020 at 11:11 AM ^
That would at least somewhat explain his coaching performance
December 6th, 2020 at 1:17 PM ^
Brian has said that he can see a scenario where and contract extension is given but the whole package is updated with a lower buyout.... basically easier for Warde to part ways.
So both of these could be true in that sense?
December 6th, 2020 at 1:31 PM ^
I get that but his buyout is peanuts right now so if you are going to do that why not do it now?
