Rumor Meeting

Submitted by cpt20 on
Rumor is RR wants guys in now for an emergency meeting. I got it from here http://umgoblue.com/aspplay/Big-News-today-Emergency-meeting-m94101.aspx EDIT: www.umgoblue.com If the link isn't working. UPDATE from MGoStaff: We haven't heard anything about this. I [Brian] did wander by the message board to check it out and test the spidey-sense and the rumor has a high BS quotient to it. No one is going to change their flight just to go to some super secret meeting. Maybe a bad game of telephone? UPDATE II: Tom's caught up with a couple players who haven't heard anything of the sort. Very likely bunk.

On the practice field a coach's word is law, not so much on Expedia. I don't see how RR or anyone else could order college students to shell out for last minute flight changes. On the other hand, maybe it's going to be a brainstorming session for the MGoTshirt. In which case airfares be damned.

It just takes forever and a day to load. Once you get there he says nothing but just says that there is a meeting and the rumor that he's heard is not good, but he wouldn't say what the rumor was because he didn't want to say something like that and then have it be false.

Pretty much it's on MLIVE (very credible source) and on UMGOBLUE forum. TOS has picked it up ITF but it looks to be other people just relaying the messages from UMGOBLUE and MLIVE. Maybe someone that has some of the players could use their awesome internet stalking ability to see if they have any weird statuses up like "WTF EMERGENCY MEETING NO NO NO".

as to what it could be. Some people were like.. "well it has to be off the field cuz if it was on the field it could wait until tomorrow". So unless it's NCAA sanctions (please if they don't give USC anything what the hell could we have done). Or someone said "maybe RR is retiring" which just doesn't make sense... I'm not even trying to spread these rumors I just know what the thread was saying and it literally takes 15 minutes for it to load (maybe their server can't handle the influx of traffic?) But yes if this is true.. this isn't good at all but I find it impossible to demand that the players change their flights on a days notice. Not only is it impractical but it would be extremely costly to the players and their families. (and would just fuel the fire to the "Michigan doesn't have family values meme")

I don't think that it was actually on the front page or anything it was just a "credible" poster with like 1500 points or posts or something(whatever that means) But either way someone with that amount of posts would have to be a pretty big hoax to do this and with the time and effort that it would take I would hope that someone wouldn't waste that much of their life to do this. But again I really doubt the validity with the whole "you have to come in today" thing... Seems a bit silly.

Don't really exactly know who started it it seems to be this poster from UMGOBLUE forum who started it. The poster on UMGOBLUE didn't mention mlive so I think it was first-hand information (or at least that's how he played it off). Like I said I'm not exactly worried about it, it's too weird.

They all have a week off between summer workouts and 2 a days so that part could make sense if they went home after that.

So let me get this straight. All these sources know is that RR called a team meeting today, the day before the first day of practice. I didn't go to the site but is there something written there about kids having to fly in a day early just for this meeting? If, IF, there is nothing written about kids changing flights why would anyone speculate on that? To say it another way, why in the world wouldn't every scholarship player have moved to AA at the very latest this afternoon? Call me a planner, call me crazy, but I'm pretty sure I would already be in Ann Arbor by at the very latest noon today if practice begins tomorrow.

workouts and then fall 2-a-days. If you were a player and lived far away (let's say California for arguments sake) and didn't know when you would get home wouldn't you wait until Sunday to come back? You're already all moved in so IMHE yes I'd wait to come back to AA until I absolutely had to.

Such a lovely place, Such a lovely place.

a flight from the West Coast, you've either got a red-eye or a flight that gets you there to Detroit in early afternoon. Considering you'd have practice on Monday, I doubt you'd want to red-eye. If you took the early morning flight, after getting your bags and getting to Ann Arbor, it's 4pm. Your team meeting is a few hours away. I'm pretty sure Coach Rod would have told his team not to cut deadlines so close. A four-hour flight delay would cause Donovan Warren, for example, to be late to a team meeting. Would you like to hear Warren, or, FORCIER, was suspended for the first series against Western Michigan because his flight was delayed the day before camp started? What would you say? Get there earlier. I'm willing to say the players are back on campus now. Rich Rod wouldn't call this meeting unless the players were available to him. The atmosphere he's engendered on campus would be in direct contradiction to this, what would undoubtedly be a DICK ROD thing to do.

I sleep pretty well on planes and it's not like you really do anything on a plane. So I think that that's the best time to fly. But I do agree with your post that yes most would probably at the very least come the day before.

doesn't prove anything. Vladimir Emilien lives in Florida. He's flying in the morning, not overnight. He will get a full night's sleep in his or his girlfriend's bed (boo yeah Vlad), not altered sleep on a plane. He'll also be able to sleep additional hours on the plane if he chooses. And, finally, a flight from Florida to Michigan is only about 3 hours, not 5. WIN? No. CIRCUMSTANTIAL INFERENCE? Maybe. IRRELEVANT TO YOUR CALIFORNIA HYPOTHETICAL? Most likely. BOOM SABAN'D (?)

I could have used Texas or Florida just as easily. But my mind had wondered to Tate Forcier (No homo) since you were talking about QB's or to D-Warren (who is also from Cali). You said that no kids would come back tomorrow. A recruit from Florida is. ***EDITED OUT ENDING per other Chris' suggestion***
