Note to anyone wondering where the other Rivals thread went - it conveyed essentially the same information as this one, but the information that those merely skimming the board will likely want to see (i.e., the Dylan McCaffrey item) is summarized in the title here, so this one remained.

I know the OP of the other thread is relatively new, so they may or may not have run into this particular situation with threads before, if they are wondering where their thread went.

Good for Dylan and good for us!!!

Maybe I missed it, but why was he not offered by Stanford as he is a legacy who is an outstanding prospect AND I think would fit their system, or did he just shut them down from the word go?

Dylan wanted to do his own thing and didn't necessarily want to be in his brother's and dad's shadow at Stanford. He has also been a bit of a Michigan fan for a few years, actually due to the basketball team's success (finally it impacted recruiting!). Combining that with the opportunity to learn from Harbaugh and Stanford going hard after other QB prospects for now, McCaffery was comfortable choosing Michigan. I'm sure Stanford had interest in him but just had other guys rated higher they wanted to focus on. If they were to miss on those guys (unlikely, I'm sure they will get a good qb) they would probably really press for Dylan late and hope that the legacy aspect is enough to flip him, but he seems all Michigan now.

In 5-6 years, we'll look back and acknowledge that either Brandon Peters or Dylan McCaffrey is the best QB in school history.

There's my not so bold prediction that only I will remember in 2022.

In all honesty, I do believe that the winner will be right at the top of the all-time list when it's all said and done. Just my opinion - but I think with Harbaugh and their talent, we're in for something legendary.

Hmm I hope so, but it seems like Harbaugh's methods of recruitment are less likely to result in 3- or 4-year starting QBs. I think it's much more likely that we'll have a near-constant string of phenomenal 2-year guys, which means that it may be hard to judge an "all-time best" contest. First world problems, for sure.

I find it interesting that Hunter Johnson is everyone's top QB. I watched a game last fall where his team played Brandon Peters's team and Peters was the better QB that day by far.

They used to be teammates and  Johnson transferred because he couldn't beat out Peters.  It's the reason I never thought Michigan had a chance to land him.  My guess is he struggles during camps in the summer and drops in the rankings in a similar fashion to Shane Morris.  Has a very strong arm but not much more.
