RIP Craig Sager

EDIT: It used to be hell Saturday morning waiting until noon for football.....then came along Craig Sager hosting "Sager Says" on SuperStation TBS. Unlike several hosts, he wasn't provocative and focused on the story rather than attempting to be the story. .....*interesting note, He served as Northwesterns Willie the Wildcat mascot as an undergraduate. Got'dammit this just ruined all of the excitement I had from the recruiting threads.

I didn't even really like the guy and the suits (I didn't dislike him)...but he's an ICON. What he meant to the NBA, I would never be able to find the words.

So much respect for this man, his battle to get back and do something he loves (and still be good at it).

See the interview like the one above with Pop, or there's one with LeBron...DWade, Steph Curry. Seeing those guys stop what they're doing to share a moment with him or to see how much he means to them and their league...I just thought that was the coolest thing.

Kind of like Jon Falk, the man is a legend...I will cry my eyes out on that day. What he means to Michigan can't really be put in words. He didn't put on the pads or coach. But impact he has on the program is as big as anyone not named "Bo."

Sager is the same thing in my eyes. Jon Falk of the NBA who was just someone who left everyone in awe. Someone that commands the respect of the GIANTS of that sport just by being himself.

This is so terribly sad. May he truly rest in peace.

Craig was best thing about the NBA on TNT for me. The warm reception he would get every time he was at the United Center always put a smile on my face. You could tell the respect fellow reporters, athletes, and coaches had for him duiring every iinterview. Him interviewing Popovich was always gold. He was the standard for in-game reporting and brought it every time, even when fighting that monster these last few years. He will be terribly missed not only by those who knew him, but by many who have never had the chance to meet him. RIP Craig, you can rest in paradise now.

we lobby for his wardrobe to be auctioned with all proceeds to fight cancer.  I appreciate that's a bold thought given how his family might feel, but like the Jimmy V speech, it could be a great posthumous eff-you to contribute to the cause.

I can say I only enjoy a handful of the talking heads. Mr Sager was easily one of them. He was real in his discussion of the game. It was never about Craig(ok beside the amazing suits) it was about the game or the players. Actually the suits weren't even about him. They were about living life and having fun each moment.

I just wish we as a nation, society and world could grasp a little of what Mr Sager was selling. Live life...love people and don't be a dick

Yeah, I've had it with 2016 myself, but fortunately it is only about two weeks from being over. We can only hope 2017 chills out a bit.

Very sad to hear about Craig Sager - I am not a huge fan of a lot of broadcasters, but I was a fan of Sager.

Acute myeloid leukemia is one sick fucking asshole of a disease.  Basically, it hinders your ability to make platelets.  It's a vicious cycle where you need to make your own platelets to survive the stem cell surgery but you need the stem cell surgery to make the platelets.  We kept watiing for my mom's platelet count to come up on its own after chemo so she could get the stem cell transplant.  Never happened.

He was someone special on so many different levels. If you can get Gregg Popovich to smile you have a special quality that many people do not possess.

Death and loss has crashed every party in 2016. Here's hoping 2017 is a little lighter and happier.

Guys in sports over the past several decades.  He seemed to be friends with other journalists, broadcasters and even coaches and players.

But man did he fight that ugly disease..........for a long time and through so many operations with such a huge heart.

And he had the balls to wear his signature and wonderful clothing gear.  I watched a documentary about him earlier this year and his clothing closet was something to behold.  The fact that his son filled in for him when Craig was in the hospital merely shows how highly everyone thought of him.......the only person they thought could replace Craig was his son.....who then wore one of those marvelous signature suits.

Loved him. He was an old school sideline reporter that was always positive and made you happy. I was hoping for a miracle, but deep inside, I knew this was coming. Going to miss him. Thoughts and prayers with family and friends.

Batavia, IL. One of the few people in the media that was RESOUNDINGLY loved, respected, and liked. So rare. A one-of-a-kind gem, and will be missed dearly. I'm sure we will have a ceremony for him in the old BHS gym he used to frequent.
