Rich Eisen show hosts Gus Johnson and they have an awesome convo (prior to The Game).

Gus is hilarious and provides some insight into how him and Joel do their thing.

e.g. (on Jim Harbaugh)."He's a quirky dude, he's a smart guy. He uh, he.... can be really funny."

(on not wearing blue or red during the broadcast) "That's why I was late today! I'm just trying to find something clean. Then neutral."

I love our delightfully quirky HC but I have a very difficult time thinking of him being funny.  I've got to believe that when Jim's at an outing or event and says something even remotely humorous everyone around him takes a second and thinks "Wait.  Is this a joke or is he being serious?"

I mean "hater-aide & hater-tots" is probably his version of "the aristocrats".

The full video is an excellent conversation, highly recommend. After 24:20 he talks about how he had to leave the room while watching the OSU-Clemson game in a room full of OSU fans and how some of his best memories growing up are watching Michigan football after his youth football games (for the Detroit Westside Cubs of course).

for grins i looked up gus on the interweb, wikipedia.  had no idea the guy was an outstanding athlete in high school, UD jesuit grad.  all-league QB and co-captain of the football team; shooting guard and co-captain of the hoops team....and co-captain and MVP of the baseball team.

then played 4 yrs of baseball at howard univ.

i like him even more now.

Nothing better than watching a top broadcaster like Rich who’s a M homer go full homer.

Gus and Joel are both great.  Love watching them call a game. I think both are also Michigan fans yet in their jobs they can’t show bias.  Gus has admitted he grew up a Michigan fan and for Joel he’s usually the analyst backing Michigan when no one else is.

I listened to the full interview on my drive home. Excellent listen, big fan of the both of them.

I get the vibe that Gus, who grew up a Michigan fan, now stays neutral in his fandom. I think that's just how professional he is. He seems unbiased to me, hell if anything he might over do it in his overhyping the buckeyes at times.  He's truly one of the best!

Gus is such a likable guy... except when your team is losing. He brings great energy and enthusiasm no matter which teams are playing.

I never knew he was a 3 star athlete in HS and then spent 4 years playing college baseball. That's pretty friggin awesome!
