somebody could look at those highlights and not think Rawls is better than a 3*. He looks like he is the complete package in those highlights. Good speed, runs with power, great vision and some elusiveness as well. His running style looks similar to Mark Ingram.

I feel awful for the kid.  It is quite apparent that he has worked very hard to get the necessary qualifying grades and scores to get a Michigan offer, and his lack of talk on the subject is, to me, proof that he is just so glad that he made it.  But at the same time, I think he's super excited to share with everyone his decision in his way, on his terms, because I think he has earned that right.  Obviously the world will not stop spinning, but you have to feel for the kid when a moment like this is sort of stolen, even if it was probably on accident.

So, I know it's weird sounding or whatever, but I am going to forget that he has "committed" and treat tomorrow's announcement at 1:30 like this thread (or the many subsequent ones on the premium sites) never existed.

This post is missing the story. I don't care how good he is or what state he is from (or who his HS coach is), the guy reportedly has a core gpa of 2.8 and an initial ACT of 15. Yes, 15.

Word is that, despite retaking and improving his ACT and thereby finally getting an official offer, Rawls still has work to do to become academically eligible. Even if he squeaks by and makes it past Admissions at UM (which he probably will given all the Hoke love and support from the LC camp), he still will be dragging himself barely across the academic finish line.

This is not the best decision for Michigan and/or Mr. Rawls. He likely will have to struggle to remain academically eligible throughout his career at Michigan and is far more likely to wash out in A2 than at a more academically appropriate institution like CMU.

This is the perfect example of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. I guess if you have a big enough hammer you can make anything work. I only hope this does not turn out badly for Thomas Rawls (a la Tate Forcier). Michigan is a big institution that will survive no matter what. Mr. Rawls only has one future.

I don't think this scenario is comparable to Dorsey in the least. Dorsey didn't even attend an actual high school, and was unable to even qualify @ Louisville after we didn't let him in. While admissions appeared to look dickish in that scenario, I think there was a lot more to it than we even knew. Rawls dream school is M, he spent this entire year putting in the work to become eligible. I'm hardpressed to believe he isn't going to increase his work ethic even further when he enrolls here.
