Question Regarding Nike Apparel For Fans
Hey everyone! I understand Adidas' contract with Michigan still has one more season to go but I was under the impression that Nike started making gear/apparel for us. I also thought I had seen they began distributing some items but I can't seem to find them. My wife and I have been searching the MDen website for the new Nike sweathshirts/t-shirts for the fall but it all still seems to be Adidas. I am likely missing the obvious explanation but as I've googled and searched the internet and can't come up with an answer, I was hoping mgoblog could help me out.
Does anyone know when the MDen or other sites will begin stocking/selling the Nike gear? Are we still stuck with the Adidas clothes until the fall of 2016? Thanks for any help!

Can't stand Nike and have had nothing but problems with Nike shoes. My Adidas shoes are the most comfortable I have ever owned and will continue wearing Adidas even after the change.
I can't wait for Nike's first awful uniform design (they have had plenty for other schools already) so I can hear all the Nike lovers bitch and moan.

1. Buy Adidas apparel
2. Painstakingly cut each thread out of the dreaded Adidas logo to remove
3. Painstakingly sew, glue and or use crayons to put the far superior Nike logo on said apparel
4.?
5. Profit like a mofo

Which one?

You will not see official gear sold by the univesity or MDen until Aug 1, 2016. However, some apparel will become available in the summer of next year, but it won't be sold by either of those two until the adidas contract ends.

What good is a contract if other manufacturers can ignore it. Why do a contract in the first place?
You are not going to get any Michigan merchandise until the contract is over. The one exception would be if they make the merchandise so vague enough that they can skirt any licensing issues. In that case it probably wouldn't look like UM merchandise anyway.

I don't understand why people care about who makes the fucking gear.
Basically you're supporting slave labor.
But because we don't see it everyday, nobody cares.
Its sad

With the billion of apparel threads that popped up over the last few months, this is painfully accurate.

Yeah, but Bigby vs Starbucks is not really any contest.

"People care about this every day. It's not that difficult... McDonald's vs. Burger King, Ford vs. Chevy, Apple vs. Samsung, Starbucks vs. Bigby. We all have favorites. He prefers Nike over Adidas, like most of us and just wants to know when the gear is available. What's strange is how mad you get from him asking."
What's strange is your willful ignorance and your lack of understanding why ignoring slavery and other such injustices would anger someone who knows and cares about it. I'm sure you'd be really happy if you were a slave and everybody knew it but nobody gave a shit about that at all and just wanted to wear or complain about the quality of the products you were forced to make.
I wish all the people who don't give a shit had to trade places with all the slaves. I don't see how any of you could even think of complaining if that were to happen. Why on fucking earth should anyone give a fuck about you? What is it you think makes the slaves that make your ugly gear deserve their fate but that you don't deserve the same or worse for not caring about them and allowing it to happen by your indifference and economic support of the enterprise?

You're bad at reading comprehension.
Don't feel too bad
I'm bad at things too.

"God man we are not here to debate international economic policy. People care because it has been 6 years since people could buy a quality Michigan t-shirt that didn't fail in the most elementary of manners. I too was hoping Nike stuff would hit the market ASAP."
Ijohnb, actually you are, you just can't understand it. It IS the international economic policy that prevents you from being able to buy quality shirts!
What on fucking earth do you think it is that causes cheap materials and workmanship along with slave labor and outrageously profiteering prices? What is it that causes built in obsolescence rather than the highest quality that will last the longest we can make it? It's both domestic and international economic policy, along with foreign and military policy.
Every penny stolen from you through taxes to pay for the military, the state department, the CIA and all the other secret agents and spies, USAID etc. etc. etc., prevents democracy and freedom not creates or protects it, it creates slavery, theft, poverty, hunger, misery and degradation of most of the world, it's destroying the livability of the planet, makes you less safe rather than protecting you, takes your jobs, your rights and your freedoms rather than protecting any of them. Make sure to thank everyone for their service though.

Your old Nike gear and make this a throw back season of well-worn M gear. I'm going to give the Lloyd coach shirt one last hurrah.

That's one of the most hideous shirts I've ever seen in my life!
The Michigan shirts you could buy in the 60's and 70's were infinitely more attractive and they probably had no professional designers doing them and they didn't have any brand names or logos other than on the little tag inside the collar. Nobody knew or gave a shit what the brand was and nobody paid ten or 20 or 50 times the value for the privilege of advertising, without getting paid, for the fucking company making the shirt though their name and or logo being plastered all over it!
Each one of you should write to the company you might buy from and tell them you'll wear their gear if you're paid a fee commensurate with the exposure your wearing it gives them, or, you'll happily pay them a fair price for good shirts made under good working conditions in the US with living wages, they pay their taxes, they stop corrupting government and media, and NO visible logo or brand name on the shirt!

Why would you want something with a Nike Logo if the team is going to be wearing the Jordan Brand Logo starting 2016-17?

My Adidas gear is still in great shape. I prefer Nike because it's the brand I've worn since the late 80s but some of y'all are acting like Adidas made the apparel you bought out of tissue paper and children's tears
