QB Situation

Submitted by MWolverine7 on

After it was announced that Rudock will be transferring to the Good Guys, I have to say I enjoyed listening to the Sparty slappies on local sports talk radio and reading various message bords.  In summary, their view is that Rudock makes our QB situation average at best.  I guess time will tell but the fatal flaw in their argument is that the Rudock reached his ceiling last year.  I believe that this coaching staff has the ability to not only coach him up but to build a game plan around his strengths.  Back in early December I posted a message in one of the forums saying that I can wait for the press conference to announce Jim Harbaugh as our head coach.  Now I can't wait to beat Sparty next year - to put them in their rightful place and to watch Dantonio making some sort of comment like "it will never be over." GAME ON!!!!

Morris and Malzone as the options are pretty damn troubling. Sheridan/Threet is (was) despicable and irresponsible of the leaders of the program. I understand that RichRod probably couldn't do much about Mallett transferring, but for Carr to usher him out of the program like he did was unbecoming of a Michigan Man. Very disappointing. Eight years later here we are.

Considering Mallett didn't want to be here and was reportedly hated by his teammates for having an awful attitude, I'd say ushering him out was very becoming of a Michigan Man.  A Michigan Man takes more than "next year's record" into account in such situations.

I have to agree with this 200%.  There is no point about talking shit about sparty until such as the shit needs to be talked.  The OP is actually sounding like sparty used to sound in regards to you guys.

Just an FYI for the OP also.  sparty isn't going to go away anytime soon.

Sparty won't go away? UofM dominated from 1890s through late 1940s. MSU dominated from 1950s through 1960s. UofM has dominated from 1969 through 2007 and Sparty ever since. In case you have not noticed this trend, only one school can be successful in this state. I'll bet the farm on Harbaugh!

What happens to them then? They should continue to play well as long as Dantonio stays and they keep on coaching up the players they get. I really doubt that they stop playing at a high level. You can lose the in-state game and still have a successful season I'd like to think. I do agree that in the long run Harbaugh will probably get the upper hand.

That being said let's hope that their recent run somehow ends and will be remembered as the golden era of MSU football.

UM dominated a lot of teams from 1890 through the 40s.   Anytime they were challenged those teams were knocked off the schedule.

This ain't your grand pappies college football. Harbaugh will be successful at Michigan because if he isn't there are bigger problems for you to figure out.  Harbaugh will get all the 4 and 5* guys he wants.  And MSU will continue to coach up the 2 and 3* guys you didn't.  One year of Harbaugh is not going to completely change this team around while sparty is in reload mode.  Rose Bowl in hand and a huge come back win over Baylor has filled up spartys cache pretty good for now.

You can make a bunch of arguments about Rudock. The guy has been a stud a times, consistent at times, a dud at times, and a guy who lost his job to an average QB. Harbaugh will work his magic, but no one really knows what were actually getting until the games begin. P.s - fuck sparty

That's kinda what I am thinking. I figure the defense will be really good so really all we need from him is for him to manage the game and no make any crucial mistakes. In that regard I think Rudock is perfect for this situation. Earlier I said 8-9 wins but honestly the more I think about it, the more I see 10 wins and a good chance to beat osu / Sparty.

this perhaps don't understand the comparison? That is a more than reasonable comparison to a QB who was avg. at best and on the verge of becoming a huge BUST before Harbaugh took over the 49ers and subsequently got Smith PAID by the Chiefs. If you have read any of the past main board posts about some of Harbaughs unknown college QBs who made NFL money for 2-3 years because of Harbaugh, I feel really good about our chances with just about anyone under center. Bringing all this competition to the QB position is only going to make whoever comes out on top that much better, this is exactly what Harbaugh does, this is what makes him an elite coach! He will never be a loyalist, the best QB will play, and the best QB will be decided after 6-8 guys battle it out over the course of the next 4 months. Everything is going to be earned during JH's tenure, which as an alum and fan, I take great pride in knowing.

You know you're over the target when you start taking flak.

Fuck Sparty.  If that shitty fanbase put half as much effort into supporting their own fucking team as they do trying to tear down others, they'd be a helluva fanbase.

Fuck Dantonio too... waiting... aching... for Harbaugh to run the fucking score up on that detestable asshole.
