Glad to have Robbins back.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again here — NIL has to be a competitive prospect relative to NFL kicking tryouts for specialists.  Glad to see we could keep him around for a 6th year, and I hope Moody returns as well.

Beats me.  I didn’t mean to imply (although upon re-reading it I see how you can read it that way) that NIL is what made Robbins come back.  What I was trying to say is that while NIL won’t keep most guys with eligibility in school an extra year, it should work for punters and kickers, because their expected NFL income is low (i.e. whatever you get for training camp), if you have an effective NIL program.

His UM career looks like something you'd see at BYU.

He played extensively in 2017 alongside some 5th-year seniors from the great recruiting class of 2013. Next fall he'll be on the field with a few guys from the 2022 class.

Only one punter was drafted in 2021, so getting drafted as a punter is pretty much impossible.

That leaves you to try and beat someone out as a free agent.  And if you don't, your football career is pretty much over, or you go play in Canada or something.

I can see sticking around for another year at Michigan being preferrable to that path.  Obviously if you catch on with a pro team the money is great, but it's a tough path.

I think place-kickers have a better path, because coaches are always getting fed up with their kickers and looking for other options.  Most punters in the NFL stay pretty well employed till they get too old, so there aren't a ton of job openings.

Not only has Brad Robbins punted very well for Michigan, but he also has been the holder on place kicks for All-American kicker Jake Moody, helping Moody go 22 for 24 on field goal attempts and 56 of 56 on extra points.

It also might be time to recognize the importance of long snapper William Wagner who’s quietly performing about as well as can be expected.

Seconding the appreciation for Wagner. He has been excellent all year. I don't understand why he does no have a scholarship. I guess they wait to see if there is one available when the dust settles, but this guy is a very valuable part of the team. Looks like he has one more year of eligibility, so between him snapping and Robbins holding a key part of the kicking team is intact. Now if Mooney wants to stay...
