LOL!  What about the 11 classes ranked higher than it this cycle? It was a good class, not a great one. Harbaugh’s 4th or 5th highest ranked class.

I would assume, without reading the article, that the argument is that Michigan’s class is heavy on skill position top 100 talent. And that’s what it takes to be successful in the modern game.

A top 100 QB, RB and WR is a better indicator of success for a team than a top 100 OT, S, and TE. Now, whether Michigan can develop and utilize that skill position talent is another question entirely. But I would assume the argument is that Michigan has assembled the required talent in the right places to make a move in the right direction.

That’s the important aspect of looking at the recruiting rankings too. It doesn’t take position into account in certain aspects. It just grades individual players, not considering that some positions have more impact on a team’s success than others.

I don’t think there’s any question the college game is about speed and elite talent at the offensive skill positions.  We need an offense that can overcome the defense giving up 4 - 5 scores in a game.

I’m also hopeful a new DC can not only make us less predictable, but help us to get/force some fucking turnovers.  I don’t know the stats on it, but these Don Brown defenses have been criminally void of turnovers and defensive scores.  Look what the one scoop and score against Minn did for that game.  We need those types of plays to happen way more often.

I understand people being burnt out on negativity but at least the negative drum beat tends to reflect the way the team has been playing. When I read negative takes I think "yeah... the team and coaches are really not carrying their weight." When I read positive takes I think "what team have you been watching the last two years?"

Y'all ready to be fed another line of bullshit about our high-flying offense and darkhorse Heisman candidate quarterback next year? Our team is apparently always full of star receivers and stud running backs too... if only they'd ever play like it.

I’m all about the recruiting class ranks, but let’s have a look at OSU’s offense.   The 3 key players this year are a medium 3* and 2 players that weren’t in their recruiting class.

No doubt Fields and Sermon are all the ***s.    (And ha, I’m not really sure of my point).   But somewhere in there is a point about OSU having their great classes but without the 2 transfers, their QB room would have been barren last year and counting on a true FR this year, and their RB room wouldn’t have been special this year (by results not by stars), a la UMs DT and CB positions.  And without Olave hitting above his rating, their WR room would have been like ours 3 years ago with the Black, DPJ, Nico FR year.

And I agree completely that their o-line is the best around which is all recruiting built....this year.   Didn’t they have a xfer starting last year?

I take your point.  An elite QB like Fields and a little luck can go a long way.  Trey Sermon looked like a cloned combination of Earl Campbell and Walter Payton.

We need to start straight up recruiting other teams players.  Those two guys were stuck behind others on the depth chart at other top programs (just like Joe Burrow was) and now they’re star players in the Nat Champ game.  My impression was the fix was in with both guys about transferring to Ohio State before they hit the portal.  With top talent, waiting until they’re in the transfer portal is too late.

Whatever back channels are worked in this regard need to start getting worked, now.

I get the point you're trying to make.. but you don't really have a grasp of the situation with OSU's depth. The only position I can think of where a transfer was needed is RB, they had two classes where they whiffed on top100 guys... so after Dobbins went to the NFL, they were admittedly in need of some RB depth.

Other than that... what team wouldn't take in some proven impact players who want a chance to make the CFP? OSU has certainly benefitted from the transfer portal, but that benefit also comes at the cost of losing good players who know they're going to be buried on the depth chart (Joe Burrow, Matthew Baldwin, Trevon Grimes, etc.)

Harbaugh is going to need to prove he can win big games and compete for championships if UM is going to come out on the net-positive end of the transfer portal. Justin Fields, Jonah Jackson, Trey Sermon, etc... weren't going to transfer to any middle of the road teams... they went to OSU because they wanted a shot at winning championships.

At least give some highlights of the clickbait you want us to read.  Personally, I call BS that the class can shake up anything so long as Harbaugh is in charge.  Will probably give us some extra oomph against Rutgers, Maryland, and MSU - might get a win with them!

That's the competition now, Rutgers, Maryland, and MSU.  Michigan is coached by Brady Hoke again...

If you take the high chance RBs wont matter because of zero holes and terrible play calling. Then throw in WRs/Qbs wont matter because throwing the forward pass has been an issue since @Iowa a few years back you aren't left with a whole lot.

Huge DTs and speedy CBs is what this team needs along with LBs that can play now so walk ons don't have to.This recruiting class gives us more talent at positions where we have squandered talent in the past.

DPJ, 6 yrs of QBs, Charbonet, Black, etc. All the offensive fire power in the world isn't going to change our sluggish offense. Unfortunately everyone in the UM world believes Gattis is a Harbaugh or bad break away from unleashing his offense. If he knew how to make an offense work Harbaugh wouldn't stop him. What you see in 2 years is what you get. Sure Harbaugh may make it worse but there isn't anyone stopping him from making better play calls and getting his speed in space offense working at tempo.

If JJ turns out to be a special player who can drag an entire team to greatness than yeah maybe,

Otherwise this is a laughable thing to suggest at this point.
