Those are some good looking stats! Thanks for posting!
Go Blue!!!
Good to see Aubrey Dawkins with 11 points in 11 minutes of action too.
Robinson’s game just looks so much more fluid now. You can tell he’s put in a lot of work.
Thanks for adding Aubrey to the thread. I always liked him and like to hear he's doing well. So wish he could have won that Duke game for them.
Looks like Zak Irvin got a DNP.
And MAAR with 11 pts, 4 boards in 19 minutes last night (plays for Cleveland).
Beilein did a great job of putting players into the NBA/G League.
From Div 3 to the NBA. Remarkable.... One would think he'd take some of his NBA salary to buy Beilein and Yaklich, a Rolex filled gift basket. And also the guy who told Beilien to look at him.
Duncan is absolutely incredible. This guy improved so much from DIII to Michigan, and now has improved SO much from Michigan to the NBA. His percentages on high volume in the G-League last year were otherworldly. He can even be somewhat of a ball handler now which used to be insane to think about. He's primed to have a solid 10-20 minute per game bench role this year in the NBA.
One wild thing about Duncan I noticed tonight is how short his arms are, especially relative to his crazy long legs. Given the emphasis on wingspan in the league these days, it’s remarkable how well he’s acquitting himself and improved himself a lot
Wha???? Short arms ? He's quite lanky
Wow, impressive. Love the calm cool walkback after that ridiculous OOB behind the backboard beauty - yeah, been there, done that. Keep it rolling in South Beach, Dunc!
It’s simply incredible. I hate to say if, but now I’m wondering where all this was at Michigan! Even if you throw out the G-League no defense caveat, he hit some bonkers 3’s, and now he’s handling and dunking. Obviously he has worked and improved, and NBA spacing is helping a lot too. How do you not root for him?
I know you're not dumping on him, because clearly nobody saw this coming. But he did improved steadily at Michigan. Remember, he transferred from a D3 school - D THREE!!! He earned playing time by hitting shots his first year. He learned the O and did more stuff the next year. Then he picked up defense his last year. He's had a long way to go to get where he is today, and now, in the NBA, he can do nothing but work on basketball. He doesn't have to play skool anymore! So it's kinda not fair to ask where it all was at Michigan...
Yeah, even some of us who defended him when the chips were down didn't think he would ever be good at D. I still don't think he's great at it, but these Beilein recruits are all poster kids for the idea that giving up on players in college is dumb. In the end, of course, that's why he was one of the greatest coaches of our period--he could see the latent ability in people. That's a wonderful gift to have.
In which of those highlights was there no defense? Why do people continue to push this narrative that there is no defense in the NBA?
They don't watch the NBA. Also, they prefer Bobby Knight, Aaron Craft, Greg Paulus, Christian Laettner, Grayson Allen, and other gritty grit machines.
I think that was Aubrey Dawkins that was guarding Duncan for the And-one three.
No, but that's Aubrey watching it go in--he's number 24. Thanks for pointing out that he was playing.
I always check out summer league highlights for Michigan guys and since Duncan entered the summer league last year he has been fantastic, it's so great to see.
There are a couple sections on Darius Morris in the summer league in this bleacherreport article. He’s no Duncan Robinson, but he’s still a Michigan man.
