Practice bits from Brandon Justice of TWL
Some more good stuff from the Wolverine Lounge breaking down each position group and their progress.
From one of his sources: “Jim McElwain has seen talent in his day, ane even he is surprised at this roster’s stacked talent.”

Justice is good. He's young but he's better than a lot of "insider" reporters twice his age.
August 17th, 2018 at 9:20 PM ^
Agree with your first sentence. This is crap thrown against the wall. It's the internet...anyone can claim whatever they wish.
August 17th, 2018 at 9:22 PM ^
And no mention of Hudson at OT, and I read mayfield starting this year very unlikely, runyan jbb hudson for the starting tackle spots
August 17th, 2018 at 10:56 PM ^
The thing with insider takes is it comes from people that only get to see a practice here or there (if that). One guy is there when McCaffrey is having a good day, he reports he's the number 2. Another guy is there another day when Peters is doing better, bam Peters is the number 2. It's not that either guy is wrong, they just had different samples on the same situation, which is likely that those guys are splitting reps and actually in a battle with no clear leader.

Dont bring logic into an emotional argument. Its downright unAmerican.
August 18th, 2018 at 12:03 AM ^
Does Brandon Justice = Mineral King?
August 18th, 2018 at 4:37 PM ^
Yes. Justice is full of it. He is not much better than some other twitter feeds that copy insiders. Take anything he says with caution.
August 17th, 2018 at 8:48 PM ^
I have to imagine if Shea goes down, especially early in the year, Peters goes in.
August 17th, 2018 at 8:58 PM ^
Spit on the ground and cross yourself and maybe throw some salt over your shoulder when you utter the words "if Shea goes down..."
August 18th, 2018 at 5:10 PM ^
The fact is, we should not still have to be worrying about that. This is Harbaugh's 4th year, and he has a junior and a sophomore on the roster that he recruited and has been coaching since they got here. It's more than a little concerning to think that he has yet to develop a consistent, productive quarterback, and that we're still depending on transfers to have better than 8-4 seasons.
August 17th, 2018 at 9:03 PM ^
I have to agree with you, I think Peters will be back up but will split garbage time with Dylan. Next year though I think it is going to Dylan starting
August 17th, 2018 at 9:11 PM ^
I see what you did there.

My only concern ... Tarik Black's new tattoo is like a $5k thing, so how did he pay for that ? His folks don't have that kind of money for a tattoo (trust me I live in CT and know). I sure hope he was not selling his shoes to pay for those tattoos. Just saying it is a concern whenever a kid changes his look so dramatically. It is Labron-like, a massive new tattoo.
August 17th, 2018 at 9:08 PM ^
Lol ok Mongo.

#hottake
August 17th, 2018 at 9:19 PM ^
Man, why can't kids just stay humble and low key until they are drafted. Tattoos are like saying "please investigate me" ... unfortunately Tarik's is like a big deal, a "billboard" on him that probably cost more than $5K to have done.
August 17th, 2018 at 9:22 PM ^
I spoke too soon, this post is worse than your original one.
Edit: Seriously, this is ban-level garbage.
August 17th, 2018 at 9:32 PM ^
OK, old school here but, man, that tattoo is just not good. Tarik needs to f-ing perform for an entire season before getting some bad-ass all world tattoo on par with Labron James !
August 17th, 2018 at 9:51 PM ^
What does a tattoo have to do with literally anything on the field? Also dude it is LeBron this isn't a hard thing to know. I realize I'm wasting my time but good lord these posts are dumb.
August 17th, 2018 at 11:27 PM ^
Why are you so worried about a tattoo?? More kids have them then don't now. Deion Sanders said look good feel good play good. So if that's what makes him happy just relax and watch the yards and td's pile up
August 18th, 2018 at 9:51 AM ^
I should have stopped reading long before “Labron James.”
August 17th, 2018 at 10:11 PM ^
Ban level? LOL!!! I'm not big on tattoos either, but what Mongo said was pretty dumb. I mean, really dumb. Tats have nothing to do with anything on the field, or with anything having to do with 'pointing'. What a dipshit... But your comment about banning him for it is just as foolish as his statement.
August 17th, 2018 at 10:21 PM ^
It was more the original statement of “I hope he didn’t sell his shoes, that’s a 5k tattoo” and implying that he must’ve broken some rule to get them. Unsubstantiated rumor opinion BS.
August 17th, 2018 at 9:32 PM ^
Mongo, Mongo, Mongo
August 17th, 2018 at 9:49 PM ^
Cranky Dave - history tells me that a bad-ass tattoo is like the kiss of death, unless you are Labron James. Few are.
August 17th, 2018 at 10:23 PM ^
Who is Labron James? Is he related to LeBron James?
August 18th, 2018 at 8:01 AM ^
Oww! I think I tore my labron!!
stupid, mongo.

You joined two years ago and just recently started posting your dumb shit en masse. That is some serious sleeper cell troll shit. Well done, now please go.
August 17th, 2018 at 11:30 PM ^
He’s in for the long con.
August 17th, 2018 at 11:50 PM ^
Sorry to offend you. I will make sure to correct my posts in the future. But when a key player like Black goes out with a self-centered thing like that tattoo I don’t like it. Most of the team can’t afford that tattoo. It just smacks of privilege versus the team. That shit jist fries my ass. Call me old school and neg me to hell, but that is my view. I am not a troll just a hard ass old bastard who thinks team is more important than the individual player. Black better bring it this year.
August 18th, 2018 at 2:04 AM ^
"I am not a troll just a hard ass old bastard"
Take out everything except "old" and "ass" and it's on-target.
August 17th, 2018 at 9:20 PM ^
Holy shit this is a terrible post.
August 18th, 2018 at 9:54 AM ^
Yeah, that entire string of posts jist fries my ass.

My wild unsubstantiated crazy belief is your mother bought it for him.

You know everything about Tarik's family life because you live in the same state?
August 17th, 2018 at 9:38 PM ^
Yes, unless they won the lottery.
August 18th, 2018 at 2:18 AM ^
Mongo, you're only pawn in game of life.
August 18th, 2018 at 7:26 AM ^
Really? I'm the first one to like this?! I'm freaking old!!
August 17th, 2018 at 11:42 PM ^
It's true. I live in Ohio so I know everything about Brad Robbins family life and also you are not a man unless you are 40 years old.

Nice take. Wrong Tarik Black. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbssports.com/fantasy/basketball/news/tarik-black-heads-overseas/amp/
Wrong Labron too.

Labron Jaaames
August 17th, 2018 at 9:31 PM ^
Hasn’t it been well documented that Chuck Filagia has moved inside to guard? None of the reports from players about the rotating group of tackles included Chuck.
Saying that hes in the mix for OT loses him credibility to me....
August 17th, 2018 at 10:21 PM ^
He lays out five different OTs that could be starters in 15 days. If you don’t know who they are, living under a rock and all, JBB, JR, JH, JM with CF “still in the race”.
Nice of of him to clear that up for us.
August 17th, 2018 at 10:50 PM ^
Injecting this directly into my veins thank you.
August 18th, 2018 at 12:21 AM ^
Thank you for this update.
1) I give credence to a fair amount of this. I've seen enough reputable people vouch for Brandon Justice. Justice might be wrong about Filiaga, but hey, some businesses don't require you to be 100% right to be good at your job. I think insider reporting is one of those jobs.
2) Both Justice and some other insider-y chatter says that Paye and Vilain are hurt. Justice says not serious. I believe that in Paye's case. Reading between the lines of everything I've seen, though, Vilain might be serious.
3) I think we have 3 QBs who range from excellent to fine. If our OL can keep them upright and our scheme can let them work around the OL's limitations, the passing game could rise from the ashes in a big way.
4) The tackle situation to me is ominous. I'm still worried it's going to torpedo our season. By torpedo I mean make 8-4 the best we can struggle to without a lot of luck, with 7-5 a real possibility as QBs sink and drown in the never-ending waves of onrushing DL and various unpicked-up blitzes. Right now my guess is a 40% chance of that happening. Nauseating. But...
5) The tackle situation to me is also weird. On the one hand, we've got people like Brandon Justice and fringe guys who claim to be friends of Mayfield saying that Mayfield is starting or close to it. And we've got Rashan saying he's been going up against Runyan and Mayfield the most. But then we also have more established insiders saying things like Mayfield only is getting a chance with the 1s because of injuries to other guys, and then almost going out of their way to avoid mentioning Mayfield. I don't know. I'd almost want to hope that some of the more established guys are being told not to let the Mayfield news spill so as to keep ND gameplanning that RT is going to be a weakness... but that's most likely just wishful thinking on my part. Oh well.
August 18th, 2018 at 1:32 AM ^
I think you're reading too much in-between the lines for Villain. I think he just meant he was that good last year to start as a freshman but injuries ruined those chances. Multiple people have said their injuries aren't serious, I am willing to bet they both suit up September 1st
August 18th, 2018 at 1:35 AM ^
Re: Villain — I am pretty sure he dealt with something serious last year. Heard one single mention of surgery - just in passing - by Harbaugh or Brown in an interview sometime (post OSU but pre Spring iirc).
I get the sense he is still recovering from that unless you have heard something else...in fact I think Brown or Harbaugh mentioned in an interview or podcast within the last week that Luigi is back physically but maybe not mentally quite yet. (I assume that indicates “trusting” a rebuilt knee/shoulder/etc,)
August 18th, 2018 at 1:57 AM ^
I think I heard appendectomy for Solomon.
