Potential Hoops Transfer - Sacred Heart PG Cane Broome
http://www.umhoops.com/2016/03/22/report-michigan-inquires-about-sacred…
According to a report by the New Haven Register’s David Borges, Michigan has inquired about sophomore Sacred Heart transfer Cane Broome.
He'd have to sit for a year and would be eligable to play two years for Michigan starting in the 2017-2018 season.

I'm sure he'll get a fair bit of interest, so we're gonna have to sweep him off his feet when he visits.
I hope he gets here fast....Hurry Cane!
Cane is able. . .
Having just had a discussion of films at work, part of me initially read that as "Raising Cain", and then I started thinking if we would want that for the program and if you've ever seen the film, the answer might be "probably not, especially the part about the experiments". Of course, then my mind came back to hoops.
only weighs 160 pounds.

If you're playing D1, average 23 points a game, and are the conference player of the year as a sophomore, you're good. Stud? I dunno, but he'd be more than capable of playing well in the B1G. Hell, Bryn Forbes came from Cleveland St averaging fewer points than that and lit up the conference.

The horizon league is way better than the NEC. WAY better.

And one of the worst defenders in UM basketball history, which made him about a neutral player overall.

talking about grad transfers, he seemed to be talking more about medical redshirt transfers. He said it didn't seem fair that that one school spent all the time and medical expense getting the guy healthy and then he transfers to another school. Maybe I am remembering it wrong.

This would be like a Duncan Robinson situation
I'm just not sure how a person not graduating makes it better than someone who has. It's basically treating them like junior college kids giving them 1-2 more years to mature.

so there is very little disincentive to leave. The sit out rule is pretty effective at keeping regular transfers to a minimum instead of a veritible FA market. For grad transfers there isn't that barrier. 5th year bball players aren't that common so I don't think it'll ever be a big issue.
Not at all. JB doesn't like the Grad transfer rule.
He specifically addressed grad transfers, but one thing worth mentioning. You may want the NCAA to ban or change something, but are still willing to engage in it until the NCAA actually makes that change.
For me, I think the NCAA does need to do something regarding transfers, but until they do so, there's no reason Michigan should limit itself.

Aren't they already over the scholarship limit by 1 for next year before they even entertain a transfer like this guy?

like they are preparing for...or maybe just scouting out options in the event it does.
Points are back!
There was an earlier thread my friend, but love the gif!
Lions notwithstanding, how isn't that LOL-inducing?
He had 32 points against Yale this year on 10-14 shooting.
He had seven points against UConn this year on 3-16 shooting.
He had 26 points against Northwestern this year on 9-20 shooting.
He averaged 2.9 assists per game and 3.8 turnovers per game.
His season high in assists this year was six, which he accomplished twice.
I'm not that excited about a Northeast Conference guy even if the above scoring numbers are pretty good. And his A/TO ratio is obviously terrible.
