Players can keep jerseys from UTL
Players can keep jerseys from UTL.

That's nice, a good momento to keep, I should think.
September 13th, 2011 at 3:46 PM ^
That's cool but before this I was under the impression that they could keep them without asking for special permission.
September 13th, 2011 at 3:46 PM ^
wait to find one on e-bay
/please god no

were going to be auctioned off with benefits going to mott? or is that something else?
September 13th, 2011 at 6:46 PM ^
I too thought that the jerseys were going to be auctioned off for charity.
The Michigan Daily reported that as a fact, when the uniforms were unveiled:
http://www.michigandaily.com/sports/michigan-unveils-legacy-uniforms-night-game
(Although the Daily writer also reported that the unveiling took place in "one of the luxury boxes" when in fact it was the Jack Roth Stadium Club.) And Ryan Van Bergen is also quoted as recently as this week, saying that he and his teammates previously thought that the jerseys would be auctioned off.

Interesting. I thought that was a foregone conclusion. I would they NOT be able to keep them? It's their jersey. I figured every player keeps any jersey they want at any school?

There are NCAA rules that determine what players can and cannot keep. Based on the presser, it sounded like Brandon needed special permission from the NCAA to allow the players to keep the UTL jerseys.
Not that I wouldn't trust the players, but to negate any possibility of them committing violations, it might be wise to hand out the jerseys after their senior year.

Seriously, I'm just wondering. I have made some perfectly normal comments about the subject in the thread and have been marked as overrated and flamebait. I just need to know what I'm doing wrong to upset some of you who abuse your power to vote on posts.

My guess is because there's no rating option for "egregious misuse of Caps Lock."
September 13th, 2011 at 6:38 PM ^
Do caps really bother people that much? If that's the case, that's pretty sad.

<blockquote>Wolverines defensive end Ryan Van Bergen, one of the captains, said he's not worried about any of his teammates selling or trading their jerseys.
"I think some school has probably made that a point that you're not supposed to do that," Van Bergen said Monday. "So, I think it's pretty clear that you're supposed to just hold onto them. I don't see anybody trying to get rid of those any time soon."</blockquote>
WHY WHOEVER COULD YOU BE REFERRING TO ARRVEEBEE? I HAVE NO IDEA!
also I fail at blockquotes, apparently.

Switch to plain text editor, write the blockquote commands, and then switch back.

Denard, in his TV interview, said he really would like to keep his jersey.
Now he's got one and a well deserved one at that.
September 13th, 2011 at 4:10 PM ^
I wonder if any of the ND players want to keep theirs? Maybe Denard could be so nice as to autograph them for them.
September 13th, 2011 at 4:11 PM ^
to wash in cold water and hang dry
September 13th, 2011 at 4:12 PM ^
TP is completely confused by Van Bergen's comments.
September 13th, 2011 at 4:14 PM ^
I'm confused about the Legend patch. I thought the patch would permanently be affixed to the #21 jersey. But in this article, it makes it sound like the patch was only for this one game.
September 13th, 2011 at 6:27 PM ^
I think the author got confused by Hoke saying that they weren't honoring any other players (e.g., Woodson, Harmon, etc.) this year, and that it might be a while until the next one.
September 13th, 2011 at 4:29 PM ^
I wonder if they will give that ND player a new jersey since his was all torn up.
September 13th, 2011 at 5:15 PM ^
The ND player probably doesn't want his, but I hope Denard gets the one that got torn by the guy hanging on him when he threw a pass to Hemingway. His play was brilliant, and I'd bet Denard will treasure the jersey for a long time.
September 13th, 2011 at 4:35 PM ^
I wasn't a huge fan of the jerseys, and I'm glad they won't make rounds.
September 13th, 2011 at 5:58 PM ^
difficult telling who's who since the numbers on the front were so small.
September 13th, 2011 at 6:38 PM ^
Do letting players keep them count as improper benefits though?
September 13th, 2011 at 7:08 PM ^
definitely not.
September 13th, 2011 at 8:42 PM ^
Not if they keep them. Only if they sell them.

Maybe
September 13th, 2011 at 7:09 PM ^
question.
September 13th, 2011 at 10:21 PM ^
"I walked out of the locker room, checked with compliance and got the go ahead. The reason they're getting the jerseys is they really want them and NCAA rules allow us to do it because it was a special event and the cost was under a threshold."

No, absolutely not, I think.
September 14th, 2011 at 7:03 AM ^
depends on how much the Jersey costs. it is no different than walking around campus in their "Michigan Football " T-shirt
September 14th, 2011 at 9:05 AM ^
Did you read the article??? (rhetorical question obviously )
September 13th, 2011 at 8:15 PM ^
All because my little buddy Denard saying something on ESPN... GOOD FOR THEM!!!! THEY PUT ON A GREAT SHOW!!!
