Pitt's Coach gives his analysis of the final four teams

Submitted by tigers17fan on

Jamie Dixon talks about the 4 teams in the final four since he faced all of them. I found his description of Michigan to be...well...wrong, for the most part. But, I'd love to here what you guys have to say

See the whole article here

Some parts I found interesting

Dixon: "Jordan Morgan was a heckuva player -- this guy can score...I would say this is a better rebounding team than [coach John Beilein] has had at Michigan...This team is stronger and a better rebounding team and a better defensive team, and that's what has made them good enough to get this far.''

Sorry for anything wrong with this post, it's my first :)

i don't remember the pitt game being that close. maybe i am confusing it with kstate or wvu.

he doesn't really say much about um, but still interesting that he's played all 4 teams

Dont remember, just read umhoops' much more informed recap. http://www.umhoops.com/2012/11/22/game-4-michigan-vs-pittsburgh-recap/ Ugly win. Also, funny that he says Trey Burke needs to avoid The 30 foot jumpers which trigger painful memories of the loss last season to Ohio. Of course, now his 30 foot jumpers will trigger joyful memories of the comeback win over Kansas.

Pitt coach really questions why people are having so much trouble with the Orange' defense.  I sure hope he is right for the Maize and Blue! Go Blue!

I think he is saying that McGary is a really good scorer, like Morgan is a heckuva player, and McGary is even better because he can score...that's how I read it at least

I am not sure if this is precisely what Dixon was referring to, but to see Mitch McGary the freshman throughout the year has made me excited to see just how good Mitch McGary the sophomore will be. In the Tournament, two of the dimensions of the Wolverines that he has greatly enhanced are scoring and rebounding, culminating in performances like Kansas where McGary was about 1/4 of the scoring and 1/3 of the rebounding. He has gone from playing most of  one half at the beginning of the season to being clutch and invaluable and one of the reasons we are still alive in this Tournament essentially - it's been awesome to watch too.
