Pickin' and Grinin' - CFB Games Schedule

Submitted by xtramelanin on October 22nd, 2020 at 9:58 PM

Mates,

In case you aren't enraptured by the debate, how about some CFB discussion.  The B10 starts tomorrow with one game, Illinois will be at Wisconsin tomorrow night.  Here are some of the more interesting games, including our beloved B10 games.   Favorites are listed first, point spread and then the underdog:

@Wisc     19 1/2      Illinois

@ohio       26           Neb

Aub            3 1/2      @Ole Miss

Okla          6 1/2       Iowa St

PSU          6             IU

Iowa          3             @Purdue

Michigan   3             Minny (we started as 2 1/2 pt dogs)

@NW       11            Maryland

Sorry, no line on the MSU v. Rutgers game.  Apparently the 'Disrespect' comes from other areas, not just Ann Arbor.

Pick the winners with the points.

So many good games, but that Iowa State, Oklahoma one will probably be really good, usually is even when Oklahoma is dominant, should be interesting to see now that they're not quite to par with their normal performances this season so far

Iowa State, much like their Big Ten counterpart over in Iowa City, is usually good for scoring one massive upset every two to three years. I think they'e beaten multiple top-5 teams over the past 10 years, and may have beaten Oklahoma State when they were #2. Beating Oklahoma this year doesn't carry as much weight as it normally does, but it wouldn't shock me to see ISU take them down.

I'm feeling some deja vu on this one.  I highly suggest taking Iowa State on the money line.  Also, I've just this weird feeling that at some point in the game, Oklahoma will be a 7.5 (in game favorite)...DO NOT FALL FOR THIS!  However, there will also be a time during the game, perhaps late 2nd quarter, where the over/under is adjusted to 57.5 (JUMP ON THIS ONE).

Shouldn't this say that Oklahoma plays TCU and/or Oklahoma State plays Iowa State this weekend? Or is there some joke WHOOSHing over my head?

Also, I see MSU as -13.5 over Rutgers on my ESPN app.

Speaking of Rutger and MSU (what? nobody was speaking of them? whatever...), listening to talking head radio on the commute home yesterday, there was a Rutger fan talking them up.  I mean, this guy was gung-fucking-ho on his Scarlett Knights!  He regaled us with stories about how people are failing to realize just how many impact transfers Rutger collected for this season.  He specifically talked up Mike Dwumfour as being a Michigan starter with 40-50 tackles last year.  Said he will shore up the middle of the DL as well as anyone in the B1G this year.  He went on to ensure us that with Schiano back on the sidelines, Rutger will be a perennial top 15 team.  This was all delivered with sincere earnestness - this guy believes.

I mean, I like enthusiasm for ones team.  But I gotta say that I have never - NEVER - heard anyone talk about Rutger like this guy did last night!  I hope he doesn't need too many meds after the season...

(BTW, what happened to 'Rutger'?  Nobody says it anymore, but I like it.  I'm old, my lawn is mostly green...)

That 6 point spread in the Penn State-Indiana game immediately catches my eye.

Knowing next to nothing about IU because of the cancellation of all the non-conference games, I ask this question: does IU actually have a chance?

Other than that, can someone please tell me again why we have Rutgers and Maryland in the B1G?

Illinois-Wisconsin - I'm taking the under. Wisconsin has lost a lot, shaky on who starting QB will be, Illinois appears to be rounding a corner (relatively speaking), and Camp Randall at night with no fans is nowhere near as intimidating as Camp Randall at night WITH fans. Wisconsin wins, but by less than 19.5. I'll say by 10.

Nebraska-OSU - I'm taking the over. Until Frost proves otherwise that program is in shambles and OSU is an unstoppable killing machine. Game is over by halftime.

PSU-IU - I'll take the under. IU races out to an early lead, puts themselves in a position to beat PSU, who I'm not sold as really being a top-10 squad this year but whatever. IU does what they normally do, fall apart down the stretch, and PSU scores a late TD to win by 3 and escape Bloomington.

Michigan-Minnesota - ehh I think Minnesota wins this by more than three. Michigan has the ability to win this game for sure, but Minnesota has a serious advantage (or at least a proven advantage) in the one area on the field that matters most, at the QB position. And that goes against easily our biggest defensive weakness. We have no idea what we're going to get out of Milton. This is his first start, and its on the road against a very good team. Maybe he plays like an All-American. But I doubt it. Minnesota is going to stack the box and take away the running game until Milton proves he can beat them on his own. We'll see if he can. Not a blowout, but I say Minnesota by 13. A late TD by Minnesota makes the result look worse than it is.

Sorry, neg away if you want. This just feels like one of those games that Michigan always loses.
