Paramus Catholic to play at The Big House on September 2nd

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

So a couple weeks ago, it was announced that Michigan Stadium would host multiple days of MI high school football games.

Someone in the thread mentioned that PC should play here.

Paramus Catholic and St. Frances Academy will play each other at Michigan Stadium on Sept 2 according to 2017 TE Myles Wright

This game will take place on the eve of Michigan's season opener. This will be the only game worth watching on September 2nd in this state.

Harbaugh continues to innovate. Truly joining together both Michigan and PC in this pipeline relationship.

I bet we try to get Cass Tech next year. Probably the only reason they aren't playing in the Battle at The Big House with the other MI high school teams in August is because of their prior commitment to the annual Wayne State game.

Will be able to recruit well based on its record of wins and losses. Bama doesn't need to put on a circus act, not does OSU, but every year they are at the top on the recruiting rankings. All it really takes to get the best players is a winning program. Then again, Michigan doesn't have one of those.

Lol. If someone was ever with my avatar, I'm sure they are doing just fine. Actually it's probably the blogger named "ugli", who was formerly MGoAlexander until the moms sent him to Bolivia. Apparently he doesn't have a sense of humor, a life, a full time job, or psychological counseling under his insurance plan as every other night he will go into all of my posts and down vote all of them within a minute to get his rocks off. I'm glad I can help him.

St. Frances or Paramus? Both have sophomore QBs. St. Frances has Nate Roberts - he doesn't seem to have a profile on 247 yet. Paramus has Allan Walters - currently the 7th ranked pro passer on 247 but obviously that can change from now to signing day 2018. FWIW, I don't think Walters is #1 on their QB board. I think they're looking more closely at Artur Sitkowski, who interestingly enough is also from New Jersey.

This guy is a 100% Rutgers shill.  They can do no wrong and Michigan/Harbaugh can do no right.  I usually do not like to go to road games but am going to the Rutgers game this October.  I gotta feeling Harbaugh will have the team ready to do a full beat-down and likely run-up the score.  Pay-back for the camp thingy, etc.  I'm sure that Peppers and Gary will have their game faces on, and will likely play very well.  Politi is such a homer - will be interesting to see if he has any comments on the Harbaugh commencement address at Paramus Catholic.

MHSAA member schools can only play schools that (a) are within 300 miles or (b) are in MI or a neighboring state.

I don't know the rules for every state, but I do know MHSAA rules in this regard are fairly restrictive as compared to other states.

The only way for PC to play in Ann Arbor is for it to be against a non-MI school.

Another (dumb) MHSAA rule: no Michigan school can be part of an event if even one school in that event violates either (a) or (b).  So Cass Tech couldn't even play as part of the same double-header as PC.

This is true. Also, games involving Michigan teams cannot be broadcast live, with the exception of streaming from the MHSAA website ( which is a more recent occurrence anyway) or on Fox Sports when the state title games are shown. These are seen as part of the reason Michigan high school football is so far behind. There are other reasons, to be sure. Reasons the MHSAA has nothing to do with, but these rules further limit the ability to compete.

Something about not wanting schools to be football factories. They say it is in the best interest of all the kids, their rules. But, the rules are actually made by the ADs, if I'm not mistaken. The MHSAA is simply tasked with enforcement.

basketball, soccer, volleyball, baseball, you name it --- the most talented kids are also playing on AAU/club teams (in addition to their High School teams).  Those AAU/club teams provide  plenty of travel opportunities, and plenty of chances to play top talent from elsewhere in the country.   MHSAA rules (theoretically) help to ensure High School teams remain community-focused/oriented.

Football's the one and only sport where the AAU/club team dynamic still doesn't --- for the most part --- exist.  It remains all about "Friday Night Lights."  I see two big threats for a paradigm shift here though: (1) the emergence of IMG and their like.  (2) potentially ever-increasing liability insurance costs for the schools sponsoring high school football.

Will be interesting what happens in the future.

Let's just bring the whole team in and roll out the red carpet....it's genius. Emmert is like wtf is going on? I'm still trying to figure out camps. I need to hire a team of people to keep track of Harbaugh or just wave the white flag. I hope Mr Singleton enjoys himself.

and Coach Harbaugh is continually coming out. His mind must be working nonstop to find advantages and ways to promote Michigan. Good Ole' boy coaches who just want to maintain the status quo and win their nine games a season, get paid 5 million, and then have summers off for family time just can't compete. They're not obessed in the same way Harbaugh is.

Saban might be the only SEC coach who truly is on Harbaugh's level of commitment and focus. There's a reason Saban has dominated the SEC, and Alabama's history has little to do with it (he would have done the same at LSU).

I hope we face SEC opponents every postseason. Harbaugh will use their bones as toothpicks. Freeze, Mullin, Sumlin, Miles, you guys better watch out.

he left too early. But LSU would have been the dynasty that Alabama is had he stayed. The other SEC coaches simply can't compete with someone with the personality of Jim Harbaugh. You think grass-muncher Les Miles is going to ever out coach Jim Harbaugh if they meet? You think Hugh Freeze, a man who is trying to limit their opponents' innovations under the guise of "muh family", is going to ever out-coach a man who seemingly never sleeps?

I want us to face the SEC in every post season. We'll own them, and when we face the big boys, Alabama, we'll be ready. We won't go in unprepaired like Michigan State.
